🚨 CLEANERS — WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT PRICING! 🚨
💷 YOUR TURNOVER IS NOT YOUR TAKE-HOME PAY! 💷
One thing I wish more people understood about running a cleaning business is this…
WHAT YOU CHARGE IS NOT WHAT YOU POCKET! 👀
Whether you charge by the hour or price each house individually, your rates need to cover SO much more than the time spent cleaning.
🧽 Cleaning products and equipment
⛽ Fuel and travel expenses
🚗 Unpaid driving time between jobs
📱 Phone bills, insurance and software
📋 Quotes, messages, website & admin
📣 Advertising and finding new clients
💷 Accounting and banking fees
❌ Cancellations and gaps in your schedule
💰 TAX and other business costs!
And let's not forget the time spent organising your business, keeping clients happy and making sure everything runs smoothly. That time has value too!
Personally, I charge PER HOUSE rather than by the hour because I'm pricing the work involved, the size of the property and what's expected of me — not simply how many hours it takes me to get the job done.
Why should an experienced cleaner be penalised for being efficient? 👏🧽
Let's be honest…
✨ Being busy doesn't automatically mean you're making money.
✨ Having a full diary doesn't guarantee a healthy profit.
✨ Charging less than everyone else doesn't make you the best cleaner.
✨ And constantly undercharging is not a sustainable business plan!
REVENUE IS NOT PROFIT.
YOUR TIME HAS VALUE.
YOUR SKILLS DESERVE TO BE PAID FOR.
We need to stop feeling guilty about charging fair, professional prices and start recognising what it genuinely costs to run a cleaning business.
We're not just charging for cleaning. We're running a business!
