☀️ Red Heat Health Alert issued by the UK Health Security Agency for the South West
A Red Heat Health Alert has been issued for the South West from 1am on Wednesday 24 June until 11pm on Thursday 25 June.
This is the highest level of heat alert and means severe impacts are expected due to the extreme temperatures.
The alert warns of:
🔴 Increased risk to life across the whole population, particularly older people and those with underlying health conditions
🔴 Significant pressure on health and social care services
🔴 Hot indoor temperatures making homes and workplaces uncomfortable and potentially unsafe
🔴 Possible disruption to infrastructure, including power supplies
🔴 Increased risk around water, including cold-water shock and drowning incidents
Please take extra care during the hottest parts of the day, stay hydrated, check on vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours, and never leave people or pets in parked vehicles.
