Cosy nights and crackling fires are a welcome comfort on colder evenings but it’s important to use them safely.

If your log burner or open fire is back in use, make sure your chimney has been swept and your appliance properly serviced to help reduce the risk of chimney fires.

Another job completed yesterday.

Carried out a full sweep on a lined flue after the customer mentioned the stove wasn’t drawing very well. On inspection, there was a noticeable build-up which was restricting airflow. After a thorough clean, the flue is now clear and drawing as it should.

While on site, I also tested the customer’s firewood 🪵 to check the moisture content. Happy to report it was reading below 20%, exactly where it should be for efficient and safe burning.

Sweeping in Sheffield today – definitely a cold one ❄️
Gave the flue plenty of heat before the smoke test to clear out any cold spots, and we ended up with a nice clean draw. Always good to see everything working as it should 🔥
