๐ŸŽ‰ Happy 60th Birthday Tina! ๐ŸŽ‰

Today weโ€™re celebrating a very special milestone for the heart behind Your Care ๐Ÿ’š

Please join us in wishing our Founder & CEO, Tina, a very happy 60th birthday!

Back in 2014, Tina founded Your Care with one simple aim: to care for people the way she would want her own loved ones cared for. What started as one woman wanting to do things differently has grown into an award-winning family business supporting so many families across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

Anyone who knows Tina knows this business has never just been a โ€œjobโ€ to her. She lives and breathes helping others. Whether sheโ€™s supporting a family through a dementia diagnosis, checking in on the team, solving problems behind the scenes or coming up with new ideas to improve dementia care, her passion never stops.

Her kindness, determination, knowledge and ability to truly see the person behind the diagnosis is what makes Your Care what it is today ๐Ÿ’š

Thank you for everything you do for our clients, families and team every single day.

We hope you have the most amazing birthday and finally take a moment to celebrate YOU ๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŽ‚

Happy Birthday Tina! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’š

After a dementia diagnosis, many families are given very little practical guidance about what happens next.

They may receive a leaflet, a follow-up appointment and some general advice.

But at home, the questions are often much more specific.

What should we change first?
What signs should we look out for?
What legal steps need sorting?
How do we plan without overwhelming our loved one?
When is the right time to ask for support?

๐Ÿ“˜ After the Diagnosis: Your Guide to Living with Dementia was created to answer those early questions clearly and practically.

This digital guide is for families in the first year after a dementia diagnosis and covers:

โ€ข What the first 12 months may involve
โ€ข Communication with your loved one and wider family
โ€ข Practical changes to make at home
โ€ข Signs that extra support may be needed
โ€ข Legal and financial planning families often delay
โ€ข Carer wellbeing and avoiding burnout

Written by Tina and Claire, a mother and daughter team supporting families living with dementia at home in Bristol since 2014, the guide is based on real conversations with families who wanted clear, usable information without being overwhelmed.

It is simple to read, easy to return to, and designed for everyday family life.

09/06/2026

One of the first things families say to us is, โ€œIโ€™m just scared of getting it wrong.โ€

Not wrong in a dramatic way, but wrong in the everyday sense. Letting the wrong person into the house. Choosing someone who doesnโ€™t quite fit. Agreeing to something and then feeling awkward or stuck because it doesnโ€™t feel right.

That worry makes sense. Youโ€™re not choosing a product, youโ€™re inviting someone into your home to support someone you love.

As a local introduction agency, we take time to understand what you need, then we introduce you to a self-employed carer who feels like a good fit.

When families ring us, we donโ€™t jump straight into timetables. We talk things through first. We ask whatโ€™s been happening, what feels hard at the moment, and what youโ€™re hoping support might help with. Sometimes people arenโ€™t even sure what they need yet, they just know something has to change.

Because weโ€™ve all worked as frontline carers in the past, we understand that a good match isnโ€™t just about experience on paper. Itโ€™s about personality, pace, confidence, and how someone makes your loved one feel.

We donโ€™t work from a list of names. We take time to get to know each of our self-employed carers, their experience, their availability, and the type of support theyโ€™re comfortable offering.

Our test is a simple one, would we be happy with this person supporting our own parent? If the answer isnโ€™t a clear yes, we keep looking.

If youโ€™re not sure where to start, ring us on 0117 9477422. Weโ€™ll listen first, then explain the next step. No pressure. Or if youโ€™d rather message first, send us a Facebook message and weโ€™ll get back to you.

If youโ€™d like to understand more about how our introduction model works and why families choose this approach, you can read more here: https://www.your-careuk.co.uk/our-services/why-choose-your-care

The honest answer is because we knew care could be better.

We had seen the rushed visits. The different faces turning up. The carers who cared deeply but were given no time. The families trying to hold everything together while feeling like they were constantly chasing, worrying or repeating themselves.

And we just kept thinkingโ€ฆ this canโ€™t be how it is meant to be.

Care is so personal.

You are not just sending someone into a house to tick off a few jobs. You are walking into someoneโ€™s home, their routine, their privacy, their life.

That matters.

The way you speak to someone matters.
The time you give them matters.
Whether they see a familiar face matters.
Whether their daughter can go to work without that awful feeling in her stomach matters.
Whether someone feels respected, safe and still in control of their own life matters.

That is why we started.

We wanted to build something that felt more human.

Not rushed.
Not cold.
Not โ€œwhoever is availableโ€.

Just proper care, with people who genuinely care, and enough time to do it right.
We are not perfect, and we would never pretend to be.

But we do care deeply about getting it right.

For the person being supported.
For the family in the background.
And for the carers too, because good care only happens when good people are given the time and respect to do their job properly.

That is what Your Care was built on.

And that is still what we stand for now. ๐Ÿ’š

If you have ever felt like care has become too rushed, too cold or too complicated, we promise you, we started Your Care because we felt that too.

This Carers Week, we want to say a massive thank you to our PA's.

Not a polite little thank you.

A proper one.

The work you do matters more than most people will ever fully understand.

You are the familiar faces walking through the door when someone needs reassurance.

You are the calm in someoneโ€™s morning.

You are the person who notices when something feels off.

You are the one making sure people are safe, comfortable, listened to, respected and not left feeling alone.

And you do it with patience, warmth and heart.

This yearโ€™s Carers Week theme is Building Carer Friendly Communities, and honestly, our carers are such a big part of that.

Because communities are not built by posters, slogans or awareness weeks.

They are built by people.

People who show up.
People who care properly.
People who take the time.
People who make others feel seen.

So to every one of our PA's, thank you.

For the early starts.
For the busy days.
For the kindness you give.
For the trust you build.
For the little things you notice that turn out not to be little at all.

We are genuinely so grateful for you.

You are not โ€œjust PA'sโ€.

You are the reason people get to feel safe, supported and cared for in their own homes and communities. ๐Ÿ’š

Want to become part of the Your Care family?

Weโ€™re always looking for kind, reliable people who care properly and want to make a real difference.

07/06/2026

๐Ÿš— When someone you love is living with dementia, decisions around driving can become some of the hardest you will ever face. That quiet worry as they head out to the car. The late-night conversations around the kitchen table. The moment you start to wonder if it is still safe for them to be on the road. These situations are emotional, personal and often heartbreaking for families.

Frankโ€™s family felt exactly the same. Frank had always been a car man. Every weekend he would be in the garage, restoring old engines and helping neighbours with theirs. It was more than a hobby. It was part of who he was. After his dementia diagnosis, things changed slowly at first. Then he began driving somewhere and forgetting he had taken the car. Some mornings he would find the garage empty, panic, and phone the police to report it stolen.

His family knew something had to change, but taking away the keys would have broken his heart. So they found a gentler way. They quietly removed a small part under the bonnet. The car stayed where it always was. The keys stayed in their usual place. Frank could still tinker, potter and sit behind the wheel. He just could not drive. When he mentioned the car not working, they simply said, โ€œYes Dad, the mechanic is coming tomorrow.โ€ No confrontation. No arguments. Just calm reassurance.

And it worked. Frank stayed safe. His family stayed reassured. And he never lost his dignity or his love for cars.

If you are facing this with someone you love, please know there are kinder ways to manage driving changes with dementia that protect both safety and independence. We have created a free guide with gentle strategies, how to start the conversation and what you need to do legally.

Download it here: โ€œWhen Itโ€™s Time: Supporting Your Loved One to Stop Driving.โ€
https://www.your-careuk.co.uk/resource-hub

Sometimes the best solution is not taking something away. It is finding a kinder way forward.

If you would like friendly advice about supporting someone with dementia or changes in independence, call us on 0117 947 7422 or visit our website to learn how we can help.
