Riddex Pest Control attended a call-out for a bird trapped inside a chimney. Using an endoscope through the light fitting, we located and carefully cut free a trapped Wood Pigeon.

After the rescue, the Wood Pigeon safely flew off to live another day. To help prevent future disruption and allow easier access if needed again, a metal inspection hatch was fitted to the chimney area.

Site Visit Report:

Client Concern:
Reported noises and suspected trapped rat above the cellar window.

Attendance:
Property attended and inspected with trained terrier assistance.

Findings:
Upon investigation, the issue was identified as a trapped Starling rather than rodent activity.

Action Taken:
Starling was safely rescued and carefully released back outside without injury.

Outcome:
No evidence of rat activity found in the affected area. Customer was pleased with the quick response and successful resolution.

The Rat riddance programme was secured after our initial survey report.

Multiple pest control companies have tried to gain control over this particular Rat infestation in a residential bin store by placing bait boxes.
This is where having a full time working Terrier comes in very handy.

Catching Rats isn’t as easy as some people think.
On this particular job, we came across a Rat that was highly Neophobic (scared of new objects placed in its path)
It’s a survival instinct hard wired into Rats.
We knew we had to outsmart this Rat.
With the use of a remote live feed camera placed under the kickboards, we were able to study the Rats behaviour.
The Rat just wouldn’t come out of the entry point.
We re baited the traps and entry point with a more pungent tastier lure, but still the Rat hesitated to come out.
Through watching the Rat on the camera, we found the Rat was comfortable coming half way out of the entry point and placing its front feet onto the ground.
A different type of trap (Fenn MK4) was baited and placed under the entry point.
The Rat was still hesitant, but after 2 week, it was finally caught.
