We would like to take the opportunity to respond to the rumours circulating about VGL Group Ltd. dumping so-called 'dish water' on Nipissing First Nation land.

On Nov 15 VGL Group was notified by Anishinabek Police Service that there was a report of one of our trucks dumping grey water/dish water on the side on the road on Nov 8, 2023.

Our trucks carry only fresh water to supply the pressure washers on site. The workers finished their contract in North Bay and were heading to Sudbury, when they realized that they had not emptied the fresh water holding tank before leaving. The fresh water holding tank is used to supply fresh water to our pressure washer and is usually drained at each job site before leaving. Traveling with the extra water weight is not the best practice for the vehicles. The workers decided to release the fresh water as soon as they realized the situation to prevent issues in the future.

We would like to take a moment here to apologize for the worry and confusion this action has caused. We include pictures of the inside of the truck where you can clearly see that the tank is pristine as only a tank that carries clean fresh water can be. Please rest assured that it was fresh clean water that was released.

V G L Group Ltd is now hiring a Specialized Cleaner (Exhaust Technician) and providing free shared 2-bedroom apartment.
We are looking for 2 individuals who would like to join our tight-knit team.

We use hot-water pressure washing to clean exhaust systems. (Please see our web site http://www.vglgroup.ca/) Please be aware that this position involves working in confined spaces, working at heights, working outdoors and indoors in loud, wet/damp, hot, and messy environments. You sometimes get dirty. It is physically demanding and requires manual dexterity. Chemicals and other equipment are colour-coded, you must be able to distinguish between colours. It is a combination of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending and crouching.

Our main type of work is in restaurants, but we also service institutions (schools, hospitals, Long-Term Care Homes).
We use a high-end hot water skid mounted pressure washer that goes up to 285 degrees Celsius and produce 8 gal per min. of water; experience with this type of equipment is preferred. There is a degree of mechanical problem solving that is involved in this type of work, any mechanical skills are a bonus.

Completion of high school OR experience and skills are required, additional licenses and courses are asset. Essential skills include writing and communication, working well with others, problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing. There is significant use of memory and continuous learning.

A driver’s license is a must for this position as there are often out of town contracts, with some overnight trips. The main vehicle is supplied by the employer for work, but employees are responsible for their transportation to the workshop. Applicants must be able to produce basic security clearance (clear criminal record check), a clean driving record (abstract). There will be a driver’s validity license check.

There is an initial 2 to 3 weeks training, then the new employees are expected to become a part of a regular 2-person team. Employees are expected to maintain the NFPA 96 standards for fire safety, have a keen eye for detail to problem solve issues, and have a good customer service approach. New employees will be expected to provide their own CSA approved safety boots.

Optimally and normally this position is a full-time job, however, with the pandemic, there may be slow periods. It is a job that requires you to be on call, work some weekends, some days, and often in the evening or at night. We shut down for the winter and fire back up in the early spring (typically mid-March), so this position is good till Christmas, then back at it again in the following spring.

Salary: $19.00 to start, $20.00 after successfully completing the 3-month probation and up to $25.00 hourly based on performance. V G L Group Ltd also offer a bonus, if work is done in a timely manner.
Accommodations: Employees can make use of a shared large 1600 sq foot 2-bedroom apartment with a common area and kitchen. As long as they remain employees of V G L Group Ltd. they can retain access to the apartment and there is no cost for rent. The apartment is furnished and includes: wifi, common t.v., fridge, stove, washer, and dryer.

V G L Group Ltd is located in North Bay, the workshop and all the equipment are in North Bay, if there are out of town contracts, the departure point is in North Bay.
