Living in a space that that is cluttered, unorganized and often dirty as a result has profound psychological effects. The most obvious being the stress that it creates as well as feelings anxiety, depression and low self-worth. It’s distracting, prevents focus, limits processing power and can be mentally debilitating. It can result in embarrassment and isolation greatly effecting social interactions. It’s no surprise that clutter can be damaging for mental wellness for the entire household.
Decluttering can be emotionally difficult in addition to the physical work that’s required. This uplifting service is so much more than just cleaning and organizing. It’s refreshing, stress reducing, supports mental health and will greatly improve quality of life.
I manage everything from small singe room projects that take just a few hours such as pantry or closets to entire house multi day projects. Your desired project may be any room in your house, garage, attic, storage unit, shed, deck or other outdoor space… even your motorhome, camper-trailer, boat/yacht and business or office.
You tell me what you need organized.
Each space, each client and their goals are all unique requiring me to be versatile in the way I approach this service.
Sometimes, the client wants nothing to do with the process. After a consult, I move forward with the project myself. This works well if there is not much that the client wishes to purge and the focus is solely organizing.
Other times, the client wants to be hands on and we work together. This approach is necessary when there is any purging/downsizing/donations to go through. I will not purge personal items without the client present unless there is very clear instructions. Perhaps the client goes through the purging process with me and then has me do the organizing on my own. Other times the client is involved every step of the way.
How involved or not the client is depends entirely on their preference and the nature of what needs to be done.
I will then will take any purged items and manage donations on your behalf dropping things off to local thrift stores or families in need.
In some cases I may need to source and implement organization systems such as totes, closet systems or pieces of furniture that make sense for the home and other times the client has everything needed already in the house. If anything needs to be purchased for a job either the client may choose to shop for those things themselves and other times the client has preferred to have me go out and make the choices for them.
I have worked with people looking for just a bit of support as well as with people who could be classified as a hoarder and everything in between. I have experience supporting people with special needs, mental health and physical health issues. I recognize that having someone look into the deepest darkest corners of your space can take a lot of courage. I endeavour to create a space that is supportive and encouraging with the end goal leaving not only your space but also your mind clutter free.
