What makes a pavement permeable?
The answer lies beneath the surface.
Unlike conventional pavements that quickly direct rainwater into stormwater drains, permeable pavements are designed to manage rainfall where it lands—allowing water to infiltrate naturally through the pavement profile and into the ground.
But permeability alone isn't enough.
A well-designed permeable pavement must also provide the structural strength needed to support vehicle loads without compromising water infiltration.
Atlantis Gravel Cell® achieves this by distributing wheel loads through an interlocked gravel matrix while maintaining the void space needed for water movement. The result is a pavement that combines high structural performance with effective stormwater management.
As our cities continue to grow, permeable pavements are playing an increasingly important role in reducing surface runoff, encouraging groundwater recharge, and supporting more resilient, sustainable urban infrastructure.
