Coogee | Material Breakdown

The Coogee project required a complete interior strip and reline before any finish work could begin. Once the substrate was correctly prepared and waterproofed, the client-supplied tiles were relaid to the correct pattern and specification across the full interior.

The equipment scope included a Madimack EV3 40kW three-phase heat pump, a crushed glass sand filter, and a Sunbather custom automated pool cover with remote-controlled retraction.

Every material decision on this project was made to solve a problem, not just improve aesthetics. The finish is the last step, not the first.

Introducing Coogee.

What appeared to be a straightforward retile revealed a complete interior failure beneath the surface. No waterproofing membrane, incorrect adhesion patterns, and out-of-plumb walls had caused every tile in the shell to delaminate.

We stripped the interior to bare concrete, re-rendered the shell to bring all walls to plumb, and applied a double-coat waterproofing membrane throughout before any finish work began. A Madimack EV3 40kW heat pump was installed to significantly extend the swimming season, alongside a crushed glass sand filter and a Sunbather automated pool cover with remote-controlled retraction.

The result is a pool that performs as well as it looks.

This pool had a complete interior tile failure. Every tile in the shell had delaminated, the result of an original installation with no waterproofing membrane, incorrect adhesion patterns, and walls that were never brought to plumb.

We stripped the interior entirely, re-rendered the shell to bring all walls to a true plumb surface, and applied a double-coat waterproofing membrane throughout before a single tile was laid. The client-supplied tiles were then relaid to the correct pattern and specification over a properly prepared substrate.

The result is a pool built to perform, not just to look the part.

Rob’s backyard went through a complete rebuild. The pool needed to keep up.

We relocated the hydraulic lines, installed flush-mounted LED wall lights, and upgraded the equipment to an AstralPool HALO automated saltwater chlorinator. Rob can now manage his entire pool system remotely.
