Signs You Might Have German Cockroaches in Your Home
German cockroaches are one of the most common, and stubborn, cockroaches we see. They are small, fast breeders and very good at staying hidden until the problem grows.
Here are a few early warning signs to look out for:
• Daytime sightings
Seeing small cockroaches during the day usually means the hiding spots are overcrowded, which often points to a larger infestation.
• Small dark droppings
These look like ground pepper or coffee grains and are commonly found inside cupboards, drawers, behind appliances, or along bench edges.
• Musty or oily smell
A strong, lingering odour in kitchens or laundries can be caused by German cockroach activity, especially as numbers increase.
• Baby cockroaches
If you are spotting tiny cockroaches, that means breeding is already happening. German cockroaches reproduce quickly, which is why early action matters.
• Activity around warm appliances
They love heat and moisture, so fridges, dishwashers, microwaves, and coffee machines are common hotspots.
German cockroaches are not something that usually resolves on its own. One-off sprays often miss the breeding cycle, which is why professional treatment plans matter.
If you are unsure, or starting to notice any of the signs above, it is best to act early.
