This is coming sooner than June 30th!

: In another big win for wildlife, has announced it will remove all second-generation rat poisons (SGARs) from shelves by 30 June 2026, following the regulator’s updated recommendation for a full retail ban of these wildlife-killing poisons

This comes 9 months ahead of the mandated deadline for their removal.

The decision follows a petition from near 40,000 of our supporters calling on Bunnings to act. Your signatures and tags have helped make Bunnings the first retailer to commit to removing SGARs from shelves.

Removing these long-lasting poisons as soon as possible is a critical step for protecting wildlife, helping to reduce further deaths while these recommendations are finalised.

We thank Bunnings for taking this step and hope it encourages Woolworths, Mitre 10, Coles and other retailers to follow suit as soon as possible.

Let's keep the good news rolling 😎🦉

🚨 Big Changes to Rat & Mouse Control in Australia

Most people have no idea this is happening.

From 24 March 2026, there are major changes to how rodent bait can be used across Australia, following a review by the APVMA (Australian Pesticides & Veterinary Medicines Authority).

These changes are being introduced to protect wildlife, pets and the environment.

Here are the big ones 👇

🐭 Some of the strongest rodent baits will now be restricted
These products will only be available to licensed pest professionals under strict rules.

🏡 Outdoor baiting will now be limited
Bait stations must be within 2 metres of buildings.

🚫 Mouse baiting outdoors is no longer allowed

⏱️ Rodent bait programs must now be reviewed after 35 days
They can’t simply be left in place indefinitely anymore.

📦 Retail rodent bait pack sizes are being reduced

Before anyone panics…

❗ These rodenticides are NOT banned

They are simply being tightly controlled while regulators review their impact on wildlife, particularly birds of prey.

💡 What this means for homeowners

Rodent control is becoming far more regulated and strategic.

It’s no longer about just throwing bait around a property.

Effective rodent management now relies on:

✔ Correct placement of stations
✔ Monitoring rodent activity
✔ Evaluating infestations properly
✔ Adjusting the program over time

Out of curiosity…

🐭 Have you noticed more rats or mice around your area lately?

🐝 We hate killing bees and endeavour to remove the hive wherever possible, but sometimes they harbour within a wall cavity, putting home owners and their family in harms way. We practice and believe that insecticide is the last step in the comprehensive integrated approach to all pest management.

Rodents are mainly active around the winter period but can definitely still get comfortable at your home any time of the year. Implementing a management plan to mitigate rodent activity substantially reduces the likelihood of them being on your premises or inside your house.
