🌿 Preventing Mould in Toowoomba: 5 Simple Tips
Living in Toowoomba means we get periods of rain, humidity, and cooler weather that can create the perfect conditions for mould growth.
Here are a few simple ways to protect your prams, car seats, and baby gear:
✅ Never store items damp
Even a small amount of moisture can lead to mould growth. Always allow prams, covers, and accessories to dry completely before storing.
✅ Avoid storing items in sheds and garages
These areas often experience temperature changes and poor airflow, creating ideal conditions for mould.
✅ Open and air out stored items regularly
If you’re saving baby gear for a future child, unpack it every few months and let it air in the sunshine.
✅ Use moisture absorbers in storage areas
Products designed to reduce humidity can help protect stored baby gear during wetter months.
💡 Bonus Tip: If you haven’t used a pram, capsule, or car seat for several months, give it a quick inspection before use. Early mould is much easier to treat than a severe infestation.
It’s recommended that car seats are replaced if the mould is over the straps and harness system. Soaking the straps is not recommended by manufacturers.
🌿 Have you ever pulled something out of storage and found mould growing on it? You’re definitely not alone!
