One of the many rugs on the market that looks great is a fibre that is viscose. It has many names, art silk, rayon, Botanical silk, bamboo silk to name just a few. Often sold as real silk it has the look and feel of silk. However it is more akin to paper in that it starts as a natural fibre is then turned to a pulp similar to paper then undergoes a toxic chemical transformation to make a fibre. Used in rugs, and many other household items even lounges. It looks great, feels great but dulls quickly. If it gets wet the fibre actually starts to break down just like paper. Today I colour repaired a rug that had pet stains and another carpet cleaner attempted to treat the stains with disastrous consequences. It lost colour and damaged the fibre even more. I was able to bring it back to about a 90% fix but due to the fibre damage that was all. This would be considered a big ticket item in any home so I agreed to try. Before and after pictures
