This is where she's meant to end up. We have been doing this for nine years now ✅

When it's a possum in the roof, we remove it humanely and safely. The entry point then gets sealed by a qualified carpenter, not patched over, and that work is covered for 12 months.

That last part is the bit a lot of people learn the hard way. A fair few of our calls come from people who've already paid someone to remove a possum, then heard it again a fortnight later.

🐾 Did you know it's illegal to take this bloke down the road and let him go in the bush?

Brushtail possums are protected in NSW under the Biodiversity Conservation Act. If one is caught, there are a few rules and regulations you have to abide by which can only be done under a catch and release licence.

Sounds strict. It's actually for the possum. Drop one into unfamiliar territory and it usually won't survive. Every patch already belongs to another possum, and it has nowhere safe to hide.

Getting the possum out is the easy part!

Keeping it out is the bit most people miss. They don't always come in up top. A lot of the time they get in under the house at ground level, then travel up inside the walls into your roof space.
