A pool doesn’t always need to be added after everything else is finished.

For this project, the 6m Shipping Container Pool was planned as part of a larger renovation, including a new living area and elevated deck.

The pool needed to work with the renovation rather than compete with it.

Its position, elevation and relationship with the outdoor living space were all considered as part of the wider design.

The property also had a bush outlook, so the finished layout needed to make the most of the position and the view.

This is why we look at the whole property before deciding what the pool should look like.

Sometimes the best pool design starts with everything around the pool.

Some backyards make the pool decision easy.

Others need a little more thinking.

This 12m Shipping Container Pool was installed on a significantly sloping block, so the answer wasn't to try to make the backyard flat.

It was to understand the site and design around what was already there.

That meant considering the slope, house position, access, levels, structure and how the finished pool would actually work within the property.

The result is a pool that doesn't feel like it was forced onto a difficult block. It feels like it belongs there.

That's the difference good site planning can make.

If you're looking at your backyard thinking, “I'm not sure a pool would even work here,” don't rule it out just yet.
