Where to start? What better to do on a rainy Monday night - may as well scroll though my photos and put together a trip report for our awesome weekend on K’gari (Fraser) Island recently.
While fuel prices had us all nervous leading up to the event
Moreton Districts Off Road Club attended and participated in the 25th Annual Clean Up event in early May.
With 7 vehicles and 14 members we managed to clean a 6.4klm stretch of beach and dunes from Happy Valley to the Maheno wreck, removing a total of 181.26kgs of rubbish from the ecosystem.
A total of 478 volunteers cleaned 107.3 klms of beach, totaling the removal of 4784.19 kgs of rubbish from the environment.
Never fear there was plenty of time for frivolity, exploration, testing and improving our skills, conversation around the fire and lots of laughs.
We hit all the usual tourist stops
-Central Station
-Lake Mackenzie
-Kingfisher Jetty for beers and prawns
-Eli Creek
-Maheno
-Indian Head
-Champagne Pools
-Ngala Rocks
And even managed to explore a few new destinations not found on a map. The old logging camp was a walk through time and well worth the 2klm trek to get to.
We were well represented at the Thankyou dinner, wit Emily and Teri winning a prize from OutbackArmour fo their expert line dancing skills. Our esteemed trip leader did not fare so well with the challenge of “The Nutbush” (major fail if I am to be honest).
It was great to reunite with our long term sponsor FleetCrew and welcome new sponsor Repco Australia (Hervey Bay store) in our clean up allocation. Without the efforts of the 4WD QLD K'gari Clean Up committee and all the sponsors this event would not be possible. We thank all those who work tirelessly year round to guarantee a fabulous event every year.
I can’t wait to get started with planning for next year’s event and hope you can all join us in 2027. Enjoy a snippet of photos from our adventures.
