π¦ 3 Essential Tips for Pool Owners After Heavy Rain
After a big downpour, your pool can take a bit of a beating. Hereβs how to get it back on track and keep your water healthy and clear:
---
π§ 1. Test and Balance Your Water
Rainwater can dilute your pool chemicals and upset the balance. After heavy rain, test your water for chlorine, pH, and alkalinity. You may need to top up your chlorine and adjust your pH to keep everything in the safe zone. If you have a saltwater pool, donβt forget to check your salt levels too.
π§Ή 2. Clean Out Debris
Leaves, dirt, and other debris can quickly lead to cloudy water or algae growth. Give your pool a good skim, vacuum the floor, and brush the walls and steps. Also, empty your skimmer and pump baskets so your filtration system can do its job properly.
βοΈ 3. Check Your Water Level and Run the Filter
Too much rain can cause your pool to overflow. Drain water back to the normal level (about halfway to two thirds up the skimmer opening) and run your filter for a day or two to help clear any fine particles. Once done, give your filter a clean or backwash to keep it running efficiently.
