This is something I never thought I would have to share, and asking for help isn't something that comes easily to us.

Over the past week, our lives have completely changed. Skylar became critically unwell and was transferred to Townsville, where he has now undergone two brain surgeries for a serious brain infection, with the possibility that he may still need a third.

We still don't know how long we will be here or what the coming weeks and months will look like.

Being self-employed, being away from Cairns also means I am unable to work normally. Jobs are being cancelled and postponed while our household and business bills continue at home.

Right now, though, there is nowhere else I need to be. My priority is Lucy, our kids and being beside Skylar while he fights his way through this.

After a lot of thought, we have created a GoFundMe to help take some of the financial pressure off our family while we stay by Skylar's side and support him through his recovery.

We know times are hard for everyone, and we don't expect anything. If you're able to donate, we are incredibly grateful. If you can't, sharing this post or the fundraiser would mean just as much to us.

June's winner will be announced on 8 June, and there are still a few days left to nominate someone deserving.

Since launching our Community Care Program, we've had the amazing opportunity to complete two Community Care Details for members of our community. Seeing the impact a simple act of kindness can have has been incredibly rewarding, and we're excited to help another deserving person this month.
