A well-fitted suit is one of the hardest-working pieces in a man’s wardrobe, and spring racing season puts it to the test. Wool, wool blends and linen look sharp, but they can lose their shape, shine at the seams or hold onto odours if they’re cleaned too often or pressed the wrong way.

After a big day out, hang your jacket on a wide, shaped hanger and give it a day to air before it goes back in the wardrobe. If you spill something, blot it gently rather than rubbing, then bring it in and tell us what it was. We’ll treat the stain and give it a proper press so it’s ready for the next occasion.

Spring dresses are some of the prettiest pieces in the wardrobe, and often the most delicate. Silk, chiffon, georgette and viscose drape beautifully, but they can water-spot, shrink or lose colour if they’re handled the wrong way. Beading, sequins and lace trims need extra care too.

If you spill something on a favourite dress, resist the urge to rub it or dab it with water. Blot gently, then bring it in and tell us what it was. We’ll check the fabric and trims and treat it the right way. 👗

Before the big day, bring in both outfits so they’re cleaned, pressed and looking their best side by side. A small mark, a loose button or a dropped hem is an easy fix with a bit of notice, and much harder to sort the night before.
