Techenomics proves regular top ups control foaming in oil

Testing demonstrates top ups minimise oil consumption...
Total fluid management provider Techenomics advises that regular hydraulic oil top ups control foaming levels, thus minimising oil consumption and ultimately reducing costs.

Foam is a collection of small air bubbles that accumulate on or near the surface of the hydraulic oil. As foam is an efficient thermal insulator, the temperature of the oil can become difficult to control.

The presence of bubbles in the fluid can lead to excessive oxidation, cavitation and the reduction of lubricating properties of the oil with potential to result in hydraulics system failure.

Effective oil analysis vital in reducing emissions, says Techenomics

Analysing lubricants a key component of maintenance programs...

Oil analysis plays a major part in ensuring oil and lubricants meet increasingly stringent requirements for fewer emissions as the world strives for a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.

As a specialised, independent provider of total fluid management services, Techenomics plays a role in this process because oil analysis is its bread and butter.

Its CEO Chris Adsett said oil analysis was the foundation of the business. “Ït is always at the forefront of our business, everything we do is centred on oil analysis.

“And we are always striving to improve our sampling, testing, interpretation and delivery of results to clients pushing to enhance production and save costs while being pressured to reduce emissions,” he said.

Testing new oils is important to prevent contamination,
says Techenomics

Tests on new oil just as important as used oil
As part of an effective and proactive maintenance program total fluid management provider Techenomics says it is important to test new oils before they are added to equipment.

Doing this can eradicate the possibility of adding contaminated oil to the equipment, according to Techenomics' CEO Chris Adsett, and help ensure the maintenance program is predictive - "in other words it predicts issues before they arise".

Techenomics has been testing oils and lubricants, including new products, for more than 30 years and has discovered two main problems that occur in the oils and are imperative to the long life of a machine.

Condition monitoring and Liquid Tungsten use improve diesel consumption up to 5%

As a diesel fuel supply crisis grips the world due to the Middle East conflict, it has never been more important to get the most out of diesel.
Techenomics has an important role to play in this process with its total fluid management services and products.
CEO Chris Adsett said the company's condition monitoring program encompassed all lubricants, including diesel.

"We have complete testing services for diesel powered engines and equipment, which ensure operators get maximum benefit from diesel.
"Testing diesel regularly is an important component of any effective maintenance program.

"Our sampling, analysis, trending and interpretation serve to predict maintenance issues before they arise and help ensure diesel is working effectively, and as a bonus keeps the air cleaner," he said.

Testing services for diesel powered engines and equipment...
Fluid management specialist Techenomics recognises that combatting the deleterious effects of sulphur in diesel fuel is an important aspect of any maintenance program for diesel powered engines and equipment.

In this way, the company helps ensure diesel fuel complies with government emissions regulations and sulphur content is limited.
Techenomics has operations in Australia, Indonesia and Mongolia which offer testing services for diesel fuel, including Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD).

Although ULSD has been refined so that its sulphur content is 15 parts per million or less, it is still important that it is tested regularly.
Sulphur is a natural part of the crude oil from which diesel fuel is derived and is one of the key causes of particulates or soot in diesel.

Techenomics Mongolia still going strong in its 14th year of operation

Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold mine remains a long-term client
Mongolia is an important cog in the global network of Techenomics International and this year Techenomics Mongolia is in its 14th year of operation.

The company operates an office and laboratory complex in the centre of Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, providing oil analysis, foam testing of hydraulic and gear oils, fuel, water coolant, grease and transformer oil analysis, transformer oil purifying services and magnetic plug inspections.

The operations opened on October 11, 2012, after the company attended a mining conference and expo and could see the opportunities that existed in the country’s emerging mining industry, and “the rest they say is history”, according to CEO Chris Adsett.

“From day one our dedicated and fully trained Mongolia team has offered a quick turnaround for the analysis of used and virgin lubricants, grease, coolants and fuel to predict maintenance issues before they arise.

“This reduces the carbon footprint by improved utilisation which reduces maintenance costs and improves equipment productivity.”
