Founded by two friends in Melbourne who over the past few years have become increasingly conscious of the economic, social and environmental impacts of what they consume. As regular event and music festival goers, the large volumes of unnecessary waste didn't go unnoticed, or the fact that certain wastes such as single-use disposable cups could realistically be preventable. This led to the thought

BIG NEWS for Victoria's live music industry! 🎶

Two of Victoria's key music funding programs, Music Works and 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund, are back to support artists, venues, music businesses and organisations.

Applications for Music Works are now open and close at 2pm on Wednesday, 5th August 2026.
👉 Activation Grants of $5,000
👉 Project Grants of $10,000 to $40,000
Funding can support songwriting, recording, touring, live performances, marketing, professional development, business growth and more.

10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund will also return to help Victorian venues stage more paid live music by local artists, with application details coming soon!

We are back at The Little Food Market, and this year it's bigger than EVER! 😱⭐

With the addition of Sydney and a second Melbourne market this November, even more food lovers will be sampling the delicious, locally made drinks in reusable cups!

The Little Food Market shows how reuse can be done at scale by:
✨ Placing high visibility signage for cup returns around the site.
🚪 Event staff stationed at every exit to remind patrons to return their cups.
🗑️ "No Reusable Cups Please" signage on general waste & recycling bins.
♻️ Sorting recycling bins so reusable cups can be recovered and returned to the system.

These small steps make a big difference in keeping cups in circulation and eliminating single-use waste.

🎭 These reusable cups have run away and joined the circus!

Cirque Du Soleil’s show KOOZA is touring nationally, with a month left in Melbourne before moving on to Brisbane and Sydney!

Bettercup is proud to support Cirque’s commitment to sustainability with these custom printed reusable tasters and tumblers that will be travelling the country with the show, reducing single use plastic with every drink poured.

Back in January, we completed our biggest washing operation yet for the Australian Open.

Now we’ve got the case study for you!

Five cup designs, thousands of betterdishes and an off site wash hub running at scale with capacity to spare.

This showed that our wash hub had the capacity to handle 750,000+ cups. That's Wimbledon scale. 👌

This amazing effort was possible thanks to the collaboration with Green My Plate, with their on site team managing collections, sorting, redistribution of clean dishes and more.

The Live Music Festivals Fund grant is open again, but applications close on 31 March. Eligible festivals can access up to $50,000 in funding for events running between July 2026 and June 2027.
