A very close mate of mine had referred his brother since he purchased a new Mercedes GLA-200 and I was more than happy to help prepare it before it starts its daily responsibilities.

I'll sound like a broken record here but this is the most ideal time of the car ownership, right at the start, to get it protected from our harsh elements. Often owners will get caught up in the moment of the new car so you don't really consider it at the time, so thanks to my good mate for guiding his brother in both, 1) escaping the full retail of a dealership 'addon' from some random you'll never even come face to face with and 2) ensuring the vehicle gets suitable protection before its heavily used.

I started early Saturday morning with a full decontamination process:

Foam lance, wash, two-bucket method, fine clay bar treatment, air blower for tight areas, and a careful dry-down before the car came inside.

Then the paintwork was refined using a combination of Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads and Absolute Valeting compounds. A final wipe down and then coated with one of my all-time favourite Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light.

The interior surfaces were treated, with the carpets, mats, door trims, and dash all receiving attention as well. 303 Products and GYEON Australia utilised.

In one of those rare moments, I've got some time to post up about our own car and some family van shenanigans that have occurred past few months.

I loved our white Estima, it brought both our babies home from the hospital and all the many family adventures in it - but the 2GRFE, while a sleeper powerhouse, was just too heavy on the pocket :( - so it was time to bid it farewell and let it go to someone who would enjoy it more.

I've only ever had Toyotas or Hondas, so I tried that again with an Odyssey and while its a great car - the example I landed unfortunately needed more work than I was willing to admit at the start, so reality smack later - off it went to another owner (with full disclosure of what was necessary for it). Basically my OCD couldn't handle it..

You read/hear it all the time, the whole 'you only realize what you've lost once it's gone' and yet until you experience it, it doesn't kick in! - on losing the white Estima we realized how much we genuinely preferred the interior space it offered. Forget the engine, it was the interior dynamics and the ease of use with the space it offered. For anyone who knows my car history, I deal in 2s, if not 3s.. so we set out to find a replacement Estima and it didn't take long to find the black one or Blackstima!

This will continue to build over the next few months as time permits. Need to sort out an Android/Apple Play head unit next !

It’s an interesting time in the world. While much sits beyond our control, one thing that always remains within it is how we treat one another. Kindness and respect cost little, yet they can make a real difference. At the end of the day, I’d like to think most people simply want peace of mind and the chance to go about their lives and goals without too much hassle.

Not to get too preachy though.

This long weekend, I had the pleasure of preparing this 2025 BMW iX1 for daily duties. A repeat client, a fantastic owner to deal with, and a job I was only happy to take on this long weekend!

The best time to get proper protection on a vehicle is when it’s brand new and straight out of the dealership.

Anyone familiar with the industry will know that new cars do not always arrive in ideal condition. After time at sea, through ports, transport yards, and dealerships, there is often a fair bit that needs correcting before the surface is truly ready to be protected.

That’s not a criticism of dealerships either. They work at volume, with limited time and different processes. My little detailing setup allows me to take a far more focused approach for the discerning owner.

That said I started early Saturday morning with a full decontamination process:

The owner arrived just before the rain, perfect timing. With 4 to 5 days of undercover parking and no rain exposure, the coating will be well on its way to curing properly and this iX1 will be ready to face daily life, rain or shine!

Belated New Year wishes — and welcome to 2026!

What a way to start the year with this imposing 2026 Hyundai Palisade. I never thought I’d be this excited to work on a Hyundai… but here we are.

The first thing that hits you when this pulls up is: man, this thing is HUGE.

But after a quick drive around the block (once the wash was done and any excess water cleared), it honestly handled like a regular sedan — so smooth, quiet, and effortless. The cabin blocks out the outside world and immerses you in the luxury it oozes.

My dad owns the previous generation Palisade, and I drove that one up from Sydney for a detail and ceramic coating — so I already knew these were great cruisers. But this new version takes it up another level. The interior is seriously well put together.

I’m a massive Toyota fan, but I genuinely struggle to think of a direct Toyota equivalent in this space.

After receiving the Palisade on Friday evening, it was safely parked indoors, the odometer reading was sent through to the owner, and Saturday morning we began the usual OCD treatment.

✅ Exterior Detail

The paint was treated to a full decontamination process:
Deep wash
Clay bar treatment
Air blower dry to chase water out of every hidden spot

✅ Interior Protection

The interior received a full detail including vacuuming and wipe-down of all surfaces, followed by premium protection products:
Gtechniq Australia Smart Fabric for carpets and mats
GYEON Australia Leather Coating for seats and leather trim
303 Products Aerospace Protectant for plastics and interior surfaces

✅ Paint Correction

Paint correction took the most time — especially the bonnet — but we got there in the end.
A combination of Absolute Valeting products, ie Half Cut and Final Cut, paired with Zvizzer Australia & NZ pads, worked an absolute treat.
Last but not least, coated with my favourite, Crystal Serum Light to both protect and enhance the gloss.

A solid 10+ hours went into making this Palisade look better than showroom finish (because let’s be honest… who knows what mass-production products are used before delivery!).

The Palisade was collected by a very excited family, and the kids can now look forward to making memories in this beautiful machine — with that mirror finish shining every step of the way.

New Year wishes to all of you — I hope 2026 is a happy and fulfilling one 🎉

If I haven’t mentioned it before, I have a bit of a habit… I tend to relate cars to life lessons more than most people. Sometimes it lands, sometimes it doesn’t — but hey, I’ll leave that for others to figure out 😄

Looking at this 2022 Kia Cerato GT, what immediately struck me is how far the Cerato has come. The earlier models weren’t exactly winning beauty contests. But instead of trying to copy everyone else, Kia quietly evolved it.

In my photos is a 2003 model, and when you compare it to this 2022 version — wow. The sharpness, the confidence, the whole comfortable in its own skin vibe is hard to miss.

There’s a lesson in that.
Real progress isn’t about competing with others. It’s about being a little better than you were yesterday — in your own way, at your own pace.

That’s the message I wanted to share as we head into 2026.
Keep on keeping on. 👊

Onto business — this fine example had just over 32,000 km on the clock (though you’d never guess it). A real testament to the owner — and yes, credit where it’s due… their Dad too 😉 — for how well it’s been maintained.

After a decontamination wash and clay bar, the Cerato was ready to come inside for the OCD treatment.

The interior didn’t require steam cleaning, but the door trims and dashboard were refreshed using my go-to 303 Aerospace Protectant. Carpet mats and cabin carpets were treated with Gtechniq Australia Smart Fabric for added protection.

Externally, only a single-stage polish was needed, using a combination of pads tailored to each area (different pads for the sides, roof, and bonnet). Once happy with the finish, the panels were prepped and sealed with our all-time favourite — Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light.

A delayed post but sharing the past weekend when I worked on this 2011 Mercedes-Benz ML 300CDI - this is the ML I mentioned in my recent GLE post.

The ML was treated to a comprehensive suspension refresh, a full service and before it goes to its new owner, a full detail with yours truly!

Exterior:
* Decontamination wash for the body
* Clay bar and iron decontamination for the wheels
* Single pass correction, with a few panels receiving extra attention
* Finished with my go-to: Gtechniq Australia Crystal Serum Light ceramic coating (5-year protection) on all body panels and lights

This weekend I worked on this 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350d — a close family friend’s car, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many of their cars I’ve detailed over the years (which is my way of saying thank you for the continued trust and support!).

Their previous ML was due for an upgrade, and this GLE handles that with ease. With under 75,000 km on the clock, it’s been well maintained with all original paint — but there was an extensive list I wanted to get through before it returns to daily use.

For me, the goal with detailing is always a clean, hygienic, and easy-to-maintain vehicle. With that in mind, I geared up for a full day with this GLE and completed the following:

Had one of my best mate’s new family rides in this weekend for a full inside & out detail. It’s already clocked just over 2,000 km — and that’s exactly how it should be. Cars are made to be driven, not just admired in the garage!

After a full decon wash and targeting a few areas that needed extra love, the Sealion 7 went through a tidy paint correction with my go-to Zvizzer Australia & NZ pad & polish combo.

Wrapped it all up with a layer of Gtechniq Australia supplied Crystal Serum Light ceramic coating for that slick, durable finish. Carpets got their own protective treatment thanks Smart Fabric protection, and the rest of the interior freshened up with 303 Products , Aerospace Protectant.
