Sunday detailer thoughts 💭

Detailing is both a blessing and a curse. We notice EVERYTHING.

Here are just a few examples:

• You notice every swirl, scratch, water spot and dirty trim
• You notice other people's cars when you're out driving or in car parks
• You start seeing imperfections in your own car that the average person wouldn't even think to look (hello underneath your steering wheel 👀)

Sometimes (a lot of the time) it can actually be mentally draining. Your brain is constantly looking, analysing and thinking about how something could be improved.

But I think that's also what makes us so passionate about what we do.

We see things others don't. We notice the little details. And when you genuinely love cars, it's pretty hard not to care about getting them looking their absolute best.

So if you've ever wondered why a detailer can't just do "a quick vacuum and wipe down"... this is probably why 😂

As detailers, presentation is ALWAYS at the front of our minds, so YOU BET I did a panic clean before Whistling Gums Cleaning Co. arrived.

Still, my quick job was nothing on Bree's work!

How lucky are we to have a cleaner, a friend, and someone who appreciates the finer details just as much as we do.

Although… I suppose she knows us well enough to see straight through the panic cleaning now 🙈

On the road for quoting this morning called for an Early Bird Baristas coffee for the drive ☕

Mel needed the caffeine hit and figured the car behind might need it too, so we paid for the car behind us. Enjoy your coffee/s!

Paying it forward at the drive-thru is one of our favourite ways to give back to the community, and it’s such an easy way to make someone’s day.

Temporary Closure 🚘

Just a quick update from us - Shineline Detailing will be closed from end of day tomorrow until Monday 31st August.

James is having a stay in hospital, so we're taking a short break from the tools while he hopefully gets some answers, and to take care of things at home.

I'll still be keeping an eye on messages and enquiries during this time, but replies may be a little slower than usual.

We really appreciate everyone's understanding and continued support. ❤️

We'll be back in the workshop from 31st August and looking forward to getting stuck back into it!

It's not too late to get a detail 🚨

For jobs like this, we'd consider this a restoration detail. Most would probably leave it as they'd think it's too far gone - embedded dirt, irreversible carpet damage, the list goes on.

For us, they're some of our favourites. We often can't get them perfect, but the difference can be night and day.

Mould job update + behind the scenes ⤵️

We posted late last week about starting one of our biggest jobs to date, so we thought we'd give you an update on how it's progressing and the steps we've taken so far.

We've been working our way through the interior, treating mould on the plastics, fabric seats and seatbelts.

We removed the glove box to access the cabin air filter, which will also be replaced with a new medical-grade filter.

During further inspection under the kick panels, we found signs that mould may have travelled further - potentially between the underlay and carpet. Thankfully, there is a rubber liner separating the two.

Our next step is to remove all of the seats so we can access the nooks and crannies that simply can't be reached with everything in place. This will also allow us to properly access and, if necessary, remove the carpet for further treatment.

Once all areas have been treated, we'll run an ozone treatment through the vehicle to help address any remaining airborne contaminants and musty odours.

But cleaning the mould is only part of the job.

We've also investigated the root cause and determined that water has been entering the vehicle due to a missing weather strip following a previous windscreen replacement.

Fixing the source of the moisture is just as important as treating the mould itself.

We're sharing this behind-the-scenes look to show the level of care, thought and attention to detail we put into this job - and into every vehicle that comes to us ❤️
