A mouse: 5–10 days.
A rat: up to 3 weeks — longer sealed in a brick wall.
A possum: up to 6 weeks. And in an Adelaide summer, it only gets worse.

No air freshener, open window or spray will touch it. The only thing that stops the smell is finding the source and removing it — and that's what I do.

When you call, you get me — Werner — not a call centre. My dead animal removal averages $150–$250 for a 30-minute search for the carcass. If I find it, I remove it. If I can't find it, the visit includes an odour-bag setup. And if the carcass is unreachable, the odour bag is the best solution there is.

From what I find, I can offer you rodent treatment, possum proofing or bird proofing to stop it happening again — and I'm ready to do it on the spot.

Hearing thumping above your ceiling at night? 🐾

That's a possum — and in Adelaide, they're protected native animals. You can't trap them, relocate them far, or harm them. What you can do is make your roof somewhere they can't get back into.

Here's how I do it — no trapping, no stress for them or for you:
I fit a one-way exit at every entry point. The possum leaves on its own — usually within a day or two. Then I come back, remove the exits, and seal everything properly so they can't get back in. Works for one possum or several. They move on. You sleep again.

I've been doing this across Tea Tree Gully, Modbury, Golden Grove and surrounding suburbs for years — and I back every job with a 2-year warranty on roof access. If they get back in within that window, I come back at no charge.

Fed up with wasps ruining every meal outside? 🐝

In Europe, the cold kills the colony every winter. Here it doesn't — our mild winters let nests survive and keep growing. Some Australian nests have topped 100,000 wasps.

About 80% of them are underground, and the entrance can be a hole barely 2cm wide. So you can walk past one every day and never know.

The bit that catches people out: never block the entrance. If a nest is in a wall cavity and you tape over the hole, the wasps don't give up — they chew inward, through the plasterboard, into your house.

And unlike bees, wasps sting again and again. Disturb a nest and they release a chemical that calls the whole colony.

So if you've found one — don't spray it, don't block it, and please don't try the WD-40 trick. Send me a photo from a safe distance if you can and I'll tell you straight away whether it's wasps or bees. If its bees I can relocate them to a beekeeper.

Because that matters: wasps get treated. Bees get relocated — that's always my first, second and third choice, wherever possible. 🐝
