The City's street and suburbs naming exercise continues.
Representatives of Ward 4 residents, led by Councillors R Mguni and M Ndlovu met recently to decide on names for some streets and sections of Chinotimba's ward 4.
This follows successful exercises on Wards 1-3.
Next will be Ward 5 on a date to be advised.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in this exercise.

Customer Service Week is an annual international celebration where as an organisation we appreciate the importance of customer service, especially the staff that serve you and yourselves as Council’s esteemed customers.
The period is celebrated every first week of October.

Two Brazilian tourists, Mr Leandro Teixeira Citadin and Maryana Cavalcanti Nunes have donated copies of the book Léxico de Ortopensatas, a Portuguese language dictionary written by a Brazilian author Waldo Vieira.
Mr Citadin, a Conscienciology teacher from Santa Catarina and Ms Nunes, also an English teacher from Rio De Janeiro, were in Victoria Falls on a vacation from 28 September to 1 October when they visited the Council Public Library and made the donation.
The two reached out on the Council page on 30 June 2026 inquiring about Victoria Falls and expressed the desire to make the donation.
While the book may be in Portuguese language, Victoria Falls is a cosmopolitan City, not only by being a residency for different nationalities, but also welcomes over half a million people from across the globe annually as a tourism destination.
The donation of Léxico de Ortopensatas enriches the City of Victoria Falls Library’s multilingual resources, promoting cultural exchange and intellectual diversity.
As a global tourism destination welcoming visitors from Brazil, Portugal and other Portuguese-speaking communities, the book provides tourists and residents with an opportunity to engage with Portuguese literature while strengthening the Library’s role as an inclusive centre for knowledge and learning.
The City of Victoria Falls Library sincerely appreciates the generous donation of the copies of Léxico de Ortopensatas which will strengthen service to a global tourism community, while also creating an important connection with Portuguese-speaking visitors and supporting inclusive learning and knowledge sharing.
The book will also be handy to interpreters and translators that provide such services during international conferences in the City.
According to Mr Citadin, the book is a product of decades of research on across many countries.
While in the library the duo interacted with Ms Samantha Tanatsva Jhamba, a Financial Accounting student with the University of South Africa who was studying in the library.

On Tuesday the City of Victoria Falls received Ms Alexandra Xanthaki, the United Nations Special Rapporteur in the field of Cultural Rights, who was on a mission to engage and interact with various stakeholders around cultural rights and heritage in Victoria Falls.
The visit was part of the countrywide tour that started on 28 September and will end this week, targeting key cultural areas and stakeholders such as Victoria Falls, Binga, Matopos, Khami Ruins, the San Community and others in the region.
She had a session with Council led by Deputy Mayor Alderman Rich Mguni, and key stakeholders drawn from private sector, residents, conservationists and also later engaged with traditional leaders.
Victoria Falls City is located adjacent to the Mighty Victoria Falls, a Unesco World Heritage Site which is also one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and also a world tourism destination.
Being a cosmopolitan City, cultural rights are an important focus area in Victoria Falls.
The mission also covers meetings with Government Ministries and Agencies.
Some of them are Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Local Government and Public Works, Youth Empowerment and Vocational Training, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Sports, Recreation Arts and Culture, Primary and Secondary Education, Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Lands and Rural Development.
Other engagements are with the Chiefs’ Council and traditional leaders, Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, Zimbabwe Gender Commission, Parliamentary Portfolio Committees on Culture and Heritage, Sports Arts and Culture, Education, National Archives, Board of Sensors, National Museums and Monuments of Zimbabwe, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Youth Council and others.
On 326 March 2009, the UN Himan Rights Council established a special procedure mandate entirely dedicated to cultural rights.
This mandate was reviewed and renamed to Special Rapporteur in 2012.

Victoria Falls residents had an opportunity to make an input towards crafting of the 2027 National Budget during a budget consultation by the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance Monday.
The consultation was held at Mosi-oa-Tunya High School.
Victoria Falls Councillors were among the participants and made their voice calling on the National Treasury to prioritise Victoria Falls especially the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway.
Residents proposed a road levy to be paid by haulage trucks and tourism buses, money which should go towards rehabilitation of the road infrastructure, which they said should be prioritised as a gateway road into the destination and region.
They proposed retain of a percentage of revenue from the Rainforest.
Victoria Falls is a critical tourism, conference and activity destination, with the cricket world cup coming next year hence the importance of fixing the road.
