As the City and various other stakeholders were busy cleaning the surroundings by picking litter on Friday 5 June, being the World Environment Day which this year coincided with the Presidential National Clean Up exercise, this truck in the picture, driven by one Lungisani Moyo of House Number 7035 Mkhosana, was caught dumping litter in a bush near the landfill site.
An alert municipal Public Health and security team spotted the truck and illegal act and swooped on it.
It was exactly 09:52am when Moyo was caught and a fine of US$105 was imposed in terms of the City's By-Laws.
It is an offence to dump litter at undesignated places and not to place litter in a bin under the Environmental Management Agency Environmental Management Act as well as the City's By-Laws.
Victoria Falls is a prime tourism destination and Wetland City which should be maintained in its pristine and natural state without littering.
The City, working with stakeholders under the banner of Pristine Victoria Falls Society strives to make sure every section of Victoria Falls is clean to protect the Natural Heritage Site Status, tourism industry, wildlife and future of humanity.
It is everyone's duty to make sure we place litter in rubbish bins while the City provides refuse removal services weekly in the high density suburbs, twice a week in low density and daily in the CBD and hotels meaning noone has an excuse not to have their bins carried by the refuse trucks.
