Nicodemus: The Courage to Seek Jesus

By Pastor Bloom

Key Scripture: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." β€” John 3:3
Nicodemus was a respected religious leader who came to Jesus at night seeking answers. Despite his knowledge, position, and influence, he recognized that something was missing in his life.
Jesus told him that being religious was not enough; he needed to be "born again."

In today's world, many people are like Nicodemus. They have education, money, careers, and social status, yet they feel empty inside. A modern example is a smartphone with the latest features but no internet connection. It may look impressive, but it cannot access what it was designed for. Likewise, a person may appear successful but remain spiritually disconnected from God.

Another modern parable is a vehicle with a full tank of fuel but a dead battery. It has the power to move but cannot start. Many Christians attend church regularly but struggle spiritually because they neglect prayer, Bible study, and a personal relationship with Christ.

Nicodemus teaches us the importance of seeking Jesus sincerely. He was not ashamed to ask questions and learn. As Christians, we must never stop growing spiritually. Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son" (John 3:16). Through faith in Christ, we receive new life, hope, and salvation.

In a world filled with confusion, corruption, and uncertainty, Christians can find strength by following Nicodemus' example: seek Jesus, listen to His Word, and allow Him to transform your heart. True change begins when we surrender our lives to Christ and become spiritually reborn.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to seek You wholeheartedly as Nicodemus did. Renew our hearts, strengthen our faith, and guide us in Your truth every day. Amen.

One Year After Edgar Lungu's Death: Zambia Still Awaits Closure
By Bloom Tizora

Today, 5 June 2026, marks one year since the death of Zambia's Sixth Republican President, Edgar Chagwa Lungu. Across Zambia and beyond, many people are reflecting on the life, leadership, and legacy of a man who once occupied the highest office in the land. Yet this solemn anniversary is accompanied by a painful reality: one year after his passing, the former Head of State has reportedly not yet been laid to rest.

For many Zambians, this anniversary is not only a time of remembrance but also a reminder of an unresolved chapter in the nation's history. The absence of a final burial has left many citizens feeling that the process of mourning and national closure remains incomplete.

A Journey from Humble Beginnings
Born on 11 November 1956, Edgar Chagwa Lungu rose through determination and hard work to become one of Zambia's most recognizable political figures. Trained as a lawyer, he entered public service and steadily advanced through the ranks of government.

Following the death of President Michael Sata in 2014, Lungu emerged as a leading figure within the Patriotic Front and was elected President of Zambia in January 2015. He later secured another electoral victory in 2016 and continued serving as President until 2021.

His presidency was characterized by extensive infrastructure development. Roads, bridges, airports, schools, and health facilities were constructed in various parts of the country. Supporters viewed him as a leader committed to national development and improving public infrastructure.

Like many leaders, however, his administration also faced criticism. Opponents questioned aspects of governance, economic management, public debt, and political freedoms. Despite these debates, Edgar Lungu remains one of the most significant political figures in Zambia's modern history.

A Nation Waiting for Closure
As Zambia commemorates the first anniversary of his death today, many citizens continue to express sadness that the former President has not yet received a final burial.

Traditionally, African societies place great importance on honouring the dead through proper burial rites. Such ceremonies provide comfort to families, friends, supporters, and the nation at large. They mark the conclusion of a person's earthly journey and allow communities to find peace.

The prolonged delay has therefore become a matter of public concern and emotional reflection. Regardless of political affiliation, many Zambians believe that a former Head of State deserves a dignified and respectful burial befitting his service to the nation.

Beyond Politics
While history will continue to debate his achievements and shortcomings, Edgar Lungu was more than a politician. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and citizen.

Those who admired him remember his humility, calm demeanor, and ability to connect with ordinary people. Others may recall his leadership during challenging periods in Zambia's political and economic development.

No public figure is remembered solely through politics. Human beings leave behind families, friendships, memories, and personal stories that often endure longer than political debates.

The Legacy of Edgar Lungu
One year after his passing, Edgar Lungu's influence remains visible in Zambia's political landscape. His years in office continue to shape national discussions about governance, development, leadership, and democracy.

Supporters celebrate his contributions to infrastructure development and national unity. Critics continue to examine decisions made during his administration. Together, these perspectives form the complex legacy of a leader who left a lasting imprint on Zambia.

As the nation pauses today to remember him, many Zambians hope that the unresolved issues surrounding his burial will eventually be settled in a manner that honours both his family and the country he once led.

One year after his death, Edgar Chagwa Lungu remains a significant figure in Zambia's history. Though opinions about his presidency may differ, many agree that his life and service deserve remembrance, respect, and dignity.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may Zambia one day find complete closure regarding the final chapter of his journey.

Should Women Preach in Church?

By Pastor Bloom Tizora

Key Scripture: "There is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." β€” Galatians 3:28
Should women preach in church? Christians hold different views on this question.
The Bible shows that God used women such as Deborah, who was a judge and prophetess in Israel (Judges 4:4), and Priscilla, who helped teach the Gospel (Acts 18:26).
However, some passages such as 1 Corinthians 14:34 and 1 Timothy 2:12 are interpreted by some churches as limiting women from preaching or leading in church.
What is clear is that God desires faithful servants who preach His Word truthfully. Whether male or female, every believer should seek to glorify Christ and lead others to Him.
Instead of focusing only on the messenger, let us focus on the message and whether it brings people closer to God.
Prayer: Lord, give us wisdom to understand Your Word and grace to serve You faithfully. Amen.
