Romans 8:18 doesn’t say “ignore the pain” — it calls it _present sufferings_, and that word “present” matters. It’s real right now, it’s heavy, but it’s also framed as something that doesn’t get the last word.

The contrast with “the glory that will be revealed” is what gives it perspective. It’s not about minimizing what you’re going through, but about not letting it define the whole picture. Accepting the pain means you see it clearly, and you also see that it’s temporary.

Ecclesiastes gives you permission to sit in the season. Romans gives you the reason to believe the season will pass.

That’s a beautiful one. *Psalm 34:18* cuts right to the heart of it: _“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”_

It doesn’t promise that pain won’t come, but it does promise proximity. When you’re at your lowest, you’re not abandoned — you’re actually closest to Him. And “saves” there isn’t just future rescue; it’s the idea of being lifted, delivered, made whole in the present moment too.

It pairs well with Isaiah 40:29 because one speaks to strength being given, the other to closeness being kept. Both meet you right where you are.
