LIVING ROOM CLEANING
We spend a lot of time in our living rooms, so they easily become cluttered and dirty. The cleaning experts at EMR are here to help! Not only do we offer cleaning services that allow you to get back to living your life while we take care of keeping the house clean; we’re also your one-stop shop for all the tips you need to keep a clean living room when we’re not there to help.
About Our Living Room Cleaning Services
When we clean any room of the house, we begin working “top to bottom, left to right” to clear cobwebs, clean light fixtures and ceiling fans, and more. In living rooms, the housekeeping team then dusts blinds, entertainment centers, coffee tables and other wood furniture. We carefully dust knickknacks, avoiding breakables you've specified we shouldn’t touch. After dusting and cleaning glass surfaces, our housekeeping professionals remove all furniture cushions and carefully vacuum away dirt or dust that has settled in couches or chairs.
What do we clean?
• Blinds
• Window sills
• Entertainment centers
• Shelving
• Mantels
• Coffee tables
• End tables
• Other furniture
• Couches (vacuum only)
• Chairs (vacuum only)
• Floors
• And more – custom cleaning plans are available!
How to Clean a Living Room
Where Do I Begin to Declutter?
Sometimes your house isn't as dirty as it is cluttered. Objects you don't need, use or know where to store can quickly accumulate and overtake your home. Even when they are cleaned, you may not get that sense of “clean house satisfaction” you desire. Learn how to declutter your home and regain your space, with these tips.
1. Consider whether you truly need an item. If you don't know when you last used it or when you might use it again, consider tossing it or donating it. Remember – if it looks like junk, feels like junk and nobody knows what to do with it, it's junk.
2. Make sure that whenever you are done using an object, you put it away. Make sure that your family follows this rule as well. One particularly effective method of decluttering your life is simply putting away objects left out by others. If they ask about the location of the object, tell them that if they didn't pick it up, it's gone. Usually a couple of reminders like this are enough to start some new habits.
3. Always save vacuuming for last. This ensures that you'll suck up all the debris that's been shifted onto the floor during the cleaning process.

Living Room Cleaning Schedule
The key to a clean living room is cleaning it consistently. At EMR , we follow a cleaning routine that ensures that all your spaces are as clean as possible. For your personal cleaning needs, we suggest following this simple house cleaning schedule:
• Daily: On a daily basis, collect any toys, mail, etc., that has accumulated over the course of the day, and put them in a pile in the middle of the room. One by one, put them where they belong.
• Weekly: Once a week, dust around the room, working left to right and top to bottom. From there, you can move on to cleaning your coffee table and other surfaces. After dusting, it is a good time to vacuum your furniture. Remove and rotate the sofa cushions to encourage even wear and extend their useful life.
• Monthly: Move your furniture and vacuum beneath it. Wash your windows as well, weather permitting (i.e., above 38 degrees). You should also clean your furniture as necessary.
• Yearly: On a yearly basis, you should evaluate your living room, taking care to declutter. Dust anything that is hard to reach (e.g., ceiling fan), using a ladder as necessary. Another good yearly task is finding an opportunity to clean your fireplace if you have one.
Professional House Cleaning When You Need It
These are just some of the tips we have for keeping a living room clean. We know the most effective way to keep a living room clean is to clean it on a weekly basis.

HOW TO CLEAN A BATHTUB
Who wants to take a relaxing soak in a dirty bathtub? No one. Ignoring a dirty tub only makes it harder to clean. A regular bathtub cleaning routine can turn a semiannual one-hour job into a quick and simple 10-minute job every month. Removing soap scum from your tub will also help your grout and glass stay cleaner for longer.
Cleaning a Bathtub Step-by-Step
1. Fill up a bucket with hot water, and pour the water all over the tub.
2. Sprinkle baking soda on all tub surfaces. For extra-dirty tubs, use tub-and-tile cleaner instead.
3. Fill your bucket with a half-gallon of hot water and two tablespoons of dish soap.
4. Dip a scrub sponge or a stiff nylon brush into the bucket, and scrub all bathtub surfaces.
5. Use the bucket to periodically rinse out the sponge or brush and to transfer soapy water into the tub.
6. When cleaning especially dirty tubs or stains, sprinkle baking soda directly onto the sponge or brush after dipping it in your bucket solution, and scrub hard.
7. Once you’re satisfied and the tub looks clean, use the bathtub hand sprayer or the bucket to rinse the tub.
8. Finish up by polishing the tub faucet, drain and handles with a clean, dry cloth.
Is There Mold or Mildew in Your Tub?
If you have mold or mildew in your tub, start the bathtub cleaning process by filling a spray bottle with hot water and four tablespoons of bleach. Spray this solution onto the affected areas, and allow it to soak in. While the bleach is soaking in, sprinkle baking soda throughout the tub. Proceed to step three as outlined above.
Bathtub Cleaning Supplies
• Clean bucket
• Dish soap
• Scrub brush
• Cloth or hand towel
• Sponge
• Baking soda
• Tub-and-tile cleaner (optional)
• Spray bottle and bleach (for mold and mildew only)
Bathtub Cleaning Tips
• If you’re also cleaning the shower wall tiles, save the tub for last.
• Cleaning a tub shouldn’t be painful. Create a pad for your knees by folding a towel lengthwise several times.
• Slow drain? Sprinkle four tablespoons of baking soda into the drain, followed by two cups of vinegar. Once the bubbling stops, flush the drain with boiling water.
• Stubborn stain? Make a paste out of baking soda and water. Apply this to the stain, and let it set for a few hours. Wipe away the paste once it’s dry.
• Keep your bathtub drain clean and clear with a mesh drain catcher.

HOW TO CLEAN A SHOWERHEAD
It’s time to turn that dribble in your shower into a waterfall! If your showerhead is clogged from mineral deposits and covered in soap scum, you’ve come to the right place to learn how to clean it. Follow these showerhead cleaning tips to enjoy the splendour of high water pressure once again.
Clogged Showerhead? You Can Fix That!
We have two proven methods for cleaning a dirty and clogged showerhead. The first method is easier and doesn’t require tools or disassembly; the second method is more involved but yields better results.
How to Clean a Showerhead Without Removing It
1. Grab a sturdy plastic bag large enough to fit over the showerhead.
2. Place the bag around the showerhead, and fill it up with white or apple cider vinegar while you hold it in place.
3. Use a rubber band, tape or a cable tie to secure the bag around the head, making sure the head is fully submerged in the vinegar.
4. Allow the head to soak in the vinegar for at least 12 hours. (Only soak brass, gold or nickel-coated showerheads for 30 minutes.)
5. After the showerhead has soaked, remove the bag and pour the vinegar down the drain. Turn on the shower, and run hot water through the head to remove any loose mineral deposits. Use a toothpick and an old toothbrush to scrub the water ports and knock off any stuck-on build up.
Clean a Showerhead by Removing It
1. Use an adjustable crescent wrench to gently unscrew the showerhead from the shower arm. Grip the end of the wrench for more leverage. Be careful – this shouldn’t require much force. If you find yourself struggling to unscrew the showerhead, dip an old toothbrush in vinegar, and scrub the threads on the shower arm to dissolve the mineral deposits.
2. Once the showerhead is free, submerge it in a bowl filled with 50/50 hot water and white or apple cider vinegar.
3. Allow this to soak for up to 12 hours. (If the showerhead is plated in brass, nickel or gold, soak it in 30-minute increments; prolonged exposure to vinegar may damage the plating.)
4. Once the showerhead has soaked, remove it from the vinegar to drip dry for a minute or two. To prevent leaks, give the shower arm threads about 12 wraps of Teflon tape (a.k.a. “plumber’s tape”). Teflon tape seals the gaps between the threads to prevent leaks.
5. Screw the showerhead on until it’s hand-tight; then give it another half turn with the wrench. Turn the water on. If the head leaks, give it another quarter turn with the wrench. Still leaking? You probably need a new rubber gasket, which you can buy at your local hardware store.

Once you’re finished, head back to the Bathroom Cleaning page to learn how to clean the toilet, bathtub and more. Although we won’t clean your showerhead, EMR will give your shower, your bathroom and the rest of your house the cleaning attention it deserves.

Did you know that at EMR we say a clean home is a happy home. Having a dirty home could make you feel anxious and unmotivated since keeping a clean house means less friction all around. Below are three mental benefits of having a clean and happy home:

1. Less Stress
When your home is a mess, you're more likely to feel chaotic and out of sorts. Having a reoccurring cleaning service can lower your stress levels. You won't always have the daunting task of cleaning hanging over your head every weekend. Instead, you can spend more time decompressing and with your family.

2. Increase in Productivity
According to a study conducted by Princeton, having a cleaner home can actually make you feel more productive. If you work at home it can be hard to stay motivated. You may put off work or weekend tasks to avoid the cleaning you need to do beforehand.

3. Boosts Creativity
Having a clean and organized environment can make your mind clear to focus on other things. Get those creative ideas flowing with an organized workspace. No matter what project you're working on, having a clean home will boost your inspiration. If you read this article and know decided that you are in need a dependable and thorough cleaning service or whether you are looking for that responsible company which offers competitive prices; we are perfect for you!!!
