It's a common assumption that pools are a warm-weather risk. But a pool doesn't become any less dangerous in winter.

Children are still drawn to the water's edge, and the colder months often mean less supervision, not more.

If your safety net has been sitting unused since the last swim, now is a good time to check it.

Make sure it's properly tensioned, that all fittings are secure, and that there are no loose edges.

A net that's correctly installed and in good condition is doing its job even on the coldest Joburg morning — but only if it's been looked after.
