🌟 Celebrating Success at Sunshine House 🌟

We are incredibly proud of Fundiswa Magwenya, one of our remarkable foster children at Gezubuso Projects’ Sunshine House !

Fundiswa has been awarded 5th position in her Grade 9 class at Luthayi High School for academic achievement. 🏆📚

Her dedication, determination and resilience shine brightly. This recognition is not only a testament to her studies, but also a reminder of what every child can accomplish when surrounded by love and stability.

Congratulations, Fundiswa — you are an inspiration to us all.

To our foster parents, staff, and supporters: your encouragement makes milestones like this possible. Together, we are not just raising children, we are nurturing tomorrow’s leaders. ✨

🌻 At Gezubuso Project's foster care home, Sunshine House, we are reminded every day of the quiet power of love in a child’s life.

For her birthday, one of our children chose to share these tender words with her foster mom:

"You are the best mother ever. Because you are my mum now. I know that you are not my mother but I love you so much… Happy Birthday my only mother." 💖

To this child, her foster mom is more than a caregiver — she is her true mother in every way that matters. This is the gift of belonging, of being seen, and of being loved.

We honour this foster mom.
And to our supporters — thank you. Your generosity helps create not just shelter, but a place a child can call home. 🌟

From 28 July to 7 August, we had the honour of hosting Rudolf Koehne-Volland, one of our dedicated Board Directors at Gezubuso Projects (South Africa & Germany) and our principal fundraiser. Rudolf travelled from Germany to spend time with us, offering his guidance and support for our mission.

During his visit, we connected with other inspiring children’s organisations in KwaZulu-Natal — including SOS Children’s Village, Ingane Yami Children’s Village, and Siyabonga NPO. Together, we exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and explored new ways to strengthen Gezubuso’s impact.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to these partners for welcoming us and for their continued commitment to vulnerable children. Collaboration and learning are powerful tools in ensuring that every child in our care receives the best possible support, love, and opportunities.

A special thank you goes to Rudolf for his unwavering dedication to Gezubuso, both in South Africa and in Germany. Together, we are building stronger, more sustainable futures for the children entrusted to us. 💖

We run an Early Childhood Development Preschool at our West Street Sunshine Home in Pietermaritzburg. The preschool provides safe and stimulating care for children, aged 6 months to 5 years. By providing foundational education, we aim to give these children a head start in life, despite the hardships their families face.

It's good to be at school! ⭐ New year. New goals.

“Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.” – Nelson Mandela
