Slipper Day at Haggie's – 29 May

Our staff proudly took part in Slipper Day on 29 May.

Thanks to Wimpy, we were able to enjoy a delicious complimentary coffee while supporting a wonderful cause. All we had to do was wear our slippers and Slipper Day stickers and show our support.

What made Slipper Day so special is that anyone could be involved. By purchasing a sticker for just R20, we could help make a difference in the lives of children and families across South Africa.

It doesn't take much to be part of something meaningful. One sticker can help bring a dream to life. One person can help put a smile on a family's face. Together, small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped support this worthy cause. 💙👣☕

Greetings to all

We have an urgent request on behalf of the African Penguins at SANCCOB. They are currently caring for a large number of chicks (46 recently arrived!) and are in desperate need of towels—new or gently used. Every single towel helps provide warmth and care for these vulnerable little ones.

The African penguin (also known as the Cape or Jackass penguin) is now classified as Critically Endangered (as of late 2024), with fewer than 10,000 breeding pairs remaining. They face serious threats from food shortages, climate change, and habitat loss, and could face functional extinction by 2035 if action isn’t taken.

If you’re able to help, towels can be dropped off at our shop, 46 Mosel Road Uitenhage, where Mrs Du Toit will collect and deliver them to SANCCOB.

HELP US COLLECT PLASTIC BOTTLE CAPS!

Verkenner Primary School is running a recycling project where they are collecting small plastic bottle lids.

Once enough caps are collected, the school will receive a beautiful piece of furniture made and decorated using the recycled caps.

Every cap counts, and your support will help make this project a success!

WHAT TO DO:
✔ Save your small plastic bottle caps
✔ Ask family and friends to collect too
✔ Bring them to the collection point
