.maid is a black female owned agency. Founder and Director of MasterMaid, Philile Kamanga, is an attorney who is devoted in advocating for women’s human and civil rights and giving people an opportunity. Her grandmother was a domestic worker because that is the only work a black women could do during apartheid years. That drove Philile to establish this organization. As an agency .maid strives to provide formal employment to women and men in the informal sector who are passionate about the betterment of their lives and those of others. We work with dreamers and people who are determined to succeed. As an organization our mission is to change the narrative of what a domestic worker is or what they ought to be. We fuel confidence, dignity and pride to each and every one of our team members because the value of their work is invaluable. Domestic workers play a vital role in the cleanliness of our homes, work spaces and taking care of our children. We all run busy lives and an extra pair of hands is needed so we can work better, be better spouses, better friends, better parents and spend more time outside of doing chores which can be time consuming and exhausting. Being a domestic worker or a cleaner can be a thankless job with many domestic’s being underpaid, bullied, sexually harassed or suffering unfair treatment in their workplace. Cleaning or taking care of someone else’s mess is to be of service and we live for that. To be of service, to be professional and to be excellent. This is more than just a job to us. It is a movement and that is why we are MasterMaids.
