Harmful fibers:
Asbestos is made up of tiny, sharp fibers that can easily get trapped in the lungs when inhaled, causing significant health issues even with minimal exposure.
Widely used in construction:
Due to its fire-retardant properties, asbestos was commonly used in various building materials like insulation, ceiling tiles, and floor tiles, leading to widespread potential exposure in older buildings.
"Silent killer":
Asbestos-related diseases often have a long latency period, meaning symptoms may not appear for many years after exposure, making it difficult to identify the cause.
Education:
Persons not educated on the laws and risks are still selling and buying asbestos products for use in homes, this high risk product may not be sold or bought, but must be legally disposed at a permitted facility by approved contractors.
