A hot tub with a view.

At Rosendal Country Retreat, the Carbo III becomes part of the experience — a warm soak, open skies and the landscape stretching out beyond the deck.

It’s easy to see why guests enjoy slowing down here.

Carbo III wood-fired hot tubs are made in South Africa and designed for simple, off-grid heating without the need for electricity to heat the water.

When your guests use it every evening, you know it’s adding something to the stay.

Gustav Lilienfeld has purchased several Carbo III hot tubs for his Airbnbs, including Kaaimans River Lodge:

“I’ve purchased a couple of the Carbo 3 tubs for my Airbnbs, and I definitely plan to purchase more. They are great. Highly recommend.”

And his guests seem to agree.

One recent guest at Kaaimans River Lodge described the property as an exceptional place to stay, highlighting the river, beach and railway bridge — and the hot tub:

“We loved the heated hot tub and used it every evening.”

For a property like Kaaimans River Lodge, where the setting is such a big part of the experience, the Carbo III fits naturally into the environment.

A recommendation from the owner. A memorable experience for guests.

The view was already there.

The accommodation was already there.

The only question was how to give guests another reason to spend more time outside.

A well-positioned hot tub can become part of the experience of a property rather than simply another item on the facilities list.

And sometimes the best feature is simply having somewhere warm to sit while taking in the view.

Every installation tells us something about where people want to spend their time.

This Carbo III has become part of a space that was already being used for getting outside, slowing down and enjoying the surroundings.

The tub doesn’t need to dominate the space. It just needs to give people another reason to use it.

The same Carbo III can look completely different depending on where you put it.

On a deck overlooking the mountains.

In a garden surrounded by trees.

Outside a cabin.

Or somewhere with very little around it except a good view.

The tub doesn’t need a particular style of property. The setting does a lot of the work.

Which setting would you choose?

Another Carbo III finding its place.

One of the things we enjoy most about seeing our tubs out in the real world is how differently each one becomes part of its surroundings.

This one has its own setting, its own view and its own reason for being there.
And that’s exactly the point.

The Carbo III is designed to work without a complicated installation, so it can become part of the space rather than requiring the space to be built around it.

The best outdoor spaces aren’t necessarily the biggest ones.

It’s often about how the space works — the view, the setting, the way people move through it, and whether there is actually a reason to spend time there.

A Carbo III can become part of very different spaces, from a private garden to a mountain retreat or a weekend getaway.

The setting changes. The experience does too.

Where would you put yours?

More than 1,000 Carbo III hot tubs have found their place across South Africa.

In mountains.

On farms.

Beside the ocean.

In the bush.

At lodges and guest properties.

And in homes.

Every installation is different.

But the reason people choose them is remarkably similar:

They want somewhere worth slowing down for.

Here's to the next 1,000.

Good outdoor design doesn't stop at the doors.

The spaces around a home can be just as important as the rooms inside it.

A place to eat.

A place to gather.

A place to slow down.

And sometimes, a place to disappear into warm water for an hour.

Design the whole experience.
