The mystery of Creatures, Critters and little people……Like every home we too face so many challenges every single day... Water issues, blocked drains and the daily stress of exams amongst our little humans, the desperate need for food, I am faced with nothing worse than maggots and weevils. One of the little humans firmly believes the small white maggots crawling on the floor in his room are “silkworms” so I get called upstairs to help him collect them and then show him what leaves they eat- I want to cringe! We start noticing maggots on the top floor and despite the entire house been properly cleaned and sanitised daily, we have no idea where these maggots are coming from. We unpack the entire house…nothing, next morning these same fat maggots, as if they have been in training school, march in a long line back into the room as if this is their B & B and they expect breakfast. Now we are expected to give them free board and feed them too - This little routine carries on for days. And then downstairs we find weevils – again no idea how they moved in to our home and are squatting for free too. I can no longer take this invasion of free loaders, so I get on the phone and get hold of Ken from Roachmaster Pest Control. He hears the anxiety in my voice because I am now hyperventilating and want these little squatters gone. Ken and his team arrive and disappear into the house. I refuse to even go in and see what they are doing. After some time I am presented with a black bag in front of my office – Ken and team confidently tell me “Problem Solved”. I can’t wait to hear this. They had climbed into the roof and found some birds nest with dead baby birds and eggs. I look at him and say - and the “Weevils”? Well we were donated a large bag of jungle oats and the weevils took a free taxi ride in there to our pantry. So now I sit with a bunch of sad children because the baby birds died in the roof, never mind the pet maggots dropping from the roof daily! We simply cannot reach the roof ever, so we would never even have thought to look there. There is just never a quiet moment in this house. Ken and team thank you so much for your amazing assistance and for spraying the entire house. I am so relieved that our little squatters are now gone and we can try and get back to normality. I have to question the word “normal” though, in our day there is no normal!!
