~ Weit Environmental Satisfaction ~
At Weit we don't just recycle, we live it. As a kid I grew up close to a large shopping district on Chicago's northwest side. From about the age of 8 years old it was an everyday, all day adventure to garbage pick the many businesses in the area. (That's right - over 40 years in the business!)
With over 23 certified years in the waste industry there is virtually nothing I have not seen landfilled. From my early days and on I was always troubled by the amount of discarded but still viable items I saw heading eventually to a landfill. For a long time I collected and distributed items to people with a need. More recently I founded Weit Environmental Satisfaction. Now I know what your thinking; great story Guy, but why should I call Weit Environmental as opposed to my local hauler? Here it is in a nutshell: I handle the needs of all generations with a special eye toward senior citizens in the areas I service, Cook, Lake, McHenry counties and S.E. Necessary tools and experience to safely remove items from your home or business are a given. Not only do I work in the waste industry, but I have also professionally moved entire households and or businesses around the country. Do you know what happens to say a stove once it is picked up by your local hauler and or a roaming scavenger? When Weit Environmental picks up the same unit it will be FULLY recycled; hence the term "intelligent recycling.”
What does that mean to you? I'll be honest with you at this point where others may be less forthcoming or out right not able to answer you. At Weit the item will be picked-up in a timely fashion, at an agreed upon time, end of story. At the point of pick-up the unit will be assessed. If it is still viable it will be brought back to the warehouse, cleaned up and or repaired as necessary then it will be placed according to need. If there are no extenuating circumstances it will be sold, at a rate cheaper than a resale shop. If on the other hand it is past a second life it will be "fully" recycled. This means it will be parted out as opposed to just being sent to a scrap yard whole. Semi-precious metals, copper wire, aluminum apparatus, and motors are removed until the unit is reduced to steel. At this point the unit will be recycled according to it's parts. A further aspect of "intelligent recycling" is, more of the dollars generated by the recycling process stay in the United States, not to mention locally. When a unit is not "fully" broken down it ends up baled and sold in most cases to China. When they take delivery of these bales they recycle every single aspect of what they purchased. In effect every item not "fully" broken down is like handing an outside source free money. Sounds like a lot of work! It is just one aspect of how Weit Environmental is able to recycle more items at a cheaper rate. Saving our customers money. Saving the planet from wasteful landfilling. Helping people in the process!
