. Placentaphagy (consuming one’s placenta) has been practiced by traditional cultures for thousands of years but only recently have we started seeing it’s popularity in modern western cultures. There are a range of benefits to ingesting your placenta, most often women report that it helps to ward off postpartum depression, aids in energy levels, stimulates milk supply, normalises hormone levels and generally helps recovery and well being after birth. My usual method is raw preparation which involves washing and preparing the placenta as soon after birthing as possible, dehydrating it, grinding into a fine powder and then encapsulating this powder. You can expect between 100 and 200 capsules from your placenta. Capsules can be consumed over many weeks or months depending when you feel you need most support. A tincture can also be made upon request, this will be delivered after 6 weeks and can be used for many years. Other special items such as truffles or salves can be arranged upon request for an extra charge. Unless otherwise specified the umbilical cord will be dried and returned to you as a keepsake.
