📚 Friday Fact: Excessive water use can overload your septic system.

Doing multiple loads of laundry back-to-back or using large amounts of water in a short period of time can stress your system and drainfield. Heavy rain can make the problem even worse by oversaturating the ground and limiting how well your drainfield can absorb water.

Spreading out water usage and staying on top of maintenance helps keep everything flowing properly.

💡 Tuesday Tip: Know Where Your Drainfield Is

Your drainfield is a very important part of your septic system — and protecting it can help prevent costly repairs.

Avoid parking vehicles, placing heavy equipment, or building structures over the drainfield area. Excess weight can compact the soil and damage underground components, affecting how your system functions.

Not sure where your drainfield is located? We can help locate and map out your system so you can better protect it and avoid accidental damage.

FRIDAY’S FACT 📌
“I just had my tank pumped—why is it full again?”

🧠 Septic systems are designed to operate at a full level.
After a pump-out, it’s completely normal for your tank to return to its normal liquid level within 3–4 days of regular use.

💧 The average person uses 80–100 gallons of water per day, so that adds up quickly!
A properly functioning tank will sit about 3–4” below the inlet line—that’s full, but not overflowing.

✅ No need to panic—this is exactly how it’s supposed to work!

🌱 Planting Season & Your Septic System 🌱

Before you start digging and planting, make sure you’re planting smart around your septic system and drainfield.

DO:
- Plant grass or shallow-rooted plants over your drainfield
- Keep the area well covered with vegetation to help prevent erosion
- Stick to lightweight, surface-level planting

DON’T:
- Plant trees or shrubs with deep roots near your system 🌳
- Dig or disturb soil over the drainfield area
- Put heavy landscaping or garden beds over septic components

Root intrusion and soil disturbance can cause costly damage—what you plant now matters for the health of your system later.

💡 FRIDAY’S FACT 🔍 FACT VS. MYTH MYTH:
"Flushing wipes labeled ‘flushable’ or ‘septic safe’ is okay."

🚽🧻 FACT: Even “septic safe” wipes break down much slower than toilet paper, creating a perfect storm for clogs in pipes, pumps, and your septic system.
💧⚠️ Over time, they can tangle with other debris, causing expensive backups and repairs.
💸 The safest bet? Stick to toilet paper only—preferably 1-ply—and toss all wipes in the trash 🗑️ no matter what the label says.
