Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about how to write this for a while.
Many of you know I’ve been detailing since 2017 and officially running Matthew C’s Mobile Detailing on my own since 2020. What started as cleaning cars grew into something much bigger. It became boats, RVs, campers, golf carts, side-by-sides, concrete, patio furniture — if it needed cleaning, I learned how to do it. I poured myself into the craft and into the people behind the vehicles.
When I was in Washington State, the business was finally becoming what I had dreamed of. It was steady. It was growing. It was working. It was paired with ministry and things were connecting and growing.
Then in June of 2025, I came home to visit my family.
During that trip, I saw something I couldn’t ignore. Both of my grandparents — two of the people who helped shape who I am — were starting to decline in their health. It’s hard when one person you love begins to struggle. Watching both of them go through it around the same time hit differently. It made me step back and really ask myself what matters most. They took care of my sister, and I while our mother was battling with cancer. They took many years of their lives and dedicated it to helping us when and wherever they could. They were there helping us, even after she passed away. The least I could do was to see if moving was doable.
I went back to Washington after that visit and started making plans. By the end of September, I made the decision to move back to North Carolina. I sold my trailer and equipment to cover the cost of relocating. I walked away from something stable so I could be present for my family during a season that matters more than business ever could.
And now, I’m starting again.
I’m relaunching Matthew C’s Mobile Detailing this March — from scratch — not because I had to, but because I chose to build a life where I can work hard and still show up for the people who raised me.
Mobile detailing gives me the flexibility to create my own schedule. It allows me to provide excellent service to the community while also being there when my grandparents need help, when my family needs support, when time matters most.
So, when you support my business — when you book a detail, share my name, or pass along a recommendation — you’re not just helping a small business owner. You’re helping me create a way to provide for my family and be present with them in this season.
I could have stayed in Washington. It would have been easier financially in the short term. But I chose to come home. I chose to start over. And I believe I’ll build it back even stronger than before.
I don’t just talk about quality — I stand behind my work. I care about the details, but I care even more about the people I’m serving. This business has always been about relationships, not transactions. It’s about leaving a positive footprint wherever I go.
If you or someone you know needs a vehicle detailed — car, truck, boat, RV, camper, golf cart, concrete, patio furniture — I would truly appreciate the opportunity. And even if you can’t book right now, simply sharing my name would mean more than you know.
Thank you for reading this. And thank you for supporting someone who’s trying to build something meaningful — both in business and at home.
