Headstone Cleaning by Caleb

Headstone Cleaning by Caleb Providing a cleaning & maintenance service for headstones. My name is Caleb Eichsteadt. I am twelve years old. My parents supervise my cleanings. Thanks,
Caleb

A couple of years ago I saw a video of a boy cleaning headstones. I decided that I would start a small business to provide that service of helping people preserve the memory of their loved ones. I use gentle and natural cleaners and tools and have had much practice the past three summers. I am happy to offer this service to you! My suggested donation is $20/stone. My cleaning includes a deep clean

of the stone surface and base, detail-cleaning the letter crevices, clipping grass around the stone and sweeping any debris away. The process takes anywhere from 1-3 hours/stone. Also, as I work, I am sure to pray for your loved one. If you have a special prayer request as I clean, please let me know when you contact me.

10-20% of my earnings will be donated to charities/causes that benefit families who have miscarried babies. We have a couple of options for locating the stone(s): We can meet you at the cemetery and have you show us where they are. (You certainly don't have to stay for the cleaning.) If you can generally explain the stone location and give us the name(s,) we can locate and clean them without you needing to meet. In either case, we will contact you via your preferred method when the stones are done. Donations for cleaning your requested stones can be made through cash, check or PayPal. If you have any further questions or are ready to schedule a cleaning, please call or send me a message!

May had us doing a few jobs for Memorial Day, several were in Port. Cleaning there is like getting a big hug from an old friend. It is such a well-kept cemetery and a lot of our relatives are buried there. We also did some cleaning in Forest Hill and a little Catholic cemetery between Rudolph and Point. Thank you for your continued support!

Welcome back!

Mom's update:
Sorry for our lack of presence. It's been quite a year.

Last season Caleb and crew cleaned 54 stones and two large memorial benches between May 7 and September 6. Though it was only about half as many as the previous summer, that was a much more sustainable amount for Caleb and for our family :)

While we never like to hear of the need for it, we have been able to gift 6 families who have lost babies the miscarriage boxes that Caleb funds with some of his earnings. Our hearts break each and every time, but we are thankful we are able to help in this small, tangible way.

Last summer Caleb was asked to clean a large family plot in Forest Hill Cemetery, which consisted of 20+ stones and a bench. It was a two-month job amidst other ones he took on, but it turned out great and it gave us an opportunity to learn some more local history, this time about he Hill family

The other stones cleaned were in the other Wisconsin Rapids cemeteries, Nekoosa, Seneca Corners, Port Edwards and quite a few in Pittsville. Caleb brought on additional help of friends and siblings last season. I couldn't help as much as the previous summer as I learned I was expecting a baby the first week of headstone season and it wasn't long before I was out for the count during a tumultuous first trimester.

We ended the season with a large job in Pittsville with friends and siblings and some Cranberry Creamery ice cream!

This off season has been full of homeschooling, fun, friends and welcoming our sweet Avila Rose in January. She's Caleb's math buddy and he is the baby whisperer when she needs a nap. She's the sweetest and will surely enjoy walks in the stroller while her big siblings are cleaning stones this summer.

Now that the weather is finally looking up and our schedule is slowing down a tiny bit, Caleb is happy to announce that he will again offer his services.

He can get a small job or two in before Memorial Day, otherwise he has time in June, July and August to take on work.

Whether you're a repeat customer or a new one, we would be happy to set up a cleaning for you! Thank you for your continued support. This business endeavor has been such a great learning and service opportunity for our kids. They really enjoy the challenge!

Below are a few photos from the 2022 season and our newest addition.

Our cleaning season has officially begun. May 7th had us out in Nekoosa cleaning a group of headstones for a family. This past Tuesday an out-of-town repeat customer had us spruce up three stones in Port Edwards. And this coming week we will be at Restlawn for a couple stones and then starting a big family plot in Rapids.

It sure feels good to be out enjoying the sun, working together and helping out familes. We believe we got in touch with all those who've had cleaning requests so far. We apologize if we missed anyone. Please reach out again if we've not talked with you and we'll promptly be in touch 🙂

Happy Spring! We are getting a later start to the season than last year with the extended cold weather. We can't get cleaning until there is a stretch without threat of frost. We are finally there, so we will get out cleaning tomorrow for the first time.

That said, we have been contacted by a lot of you. (Thank you so much!) We are a homeschool family trying to finish up our school year as well, so we will be getting back to everyone who has contacted us in the next week or so to put you all on the schedule. Please be patient with us. We have not forgotten about you! Our spring has just been incredibly busy and the cold weather has given us a slow start.

But rest assured, we are still here and ready to clean stones this summer.

Thank you,
Caleb & Family
