Thirty years ago, I started building Abracadabra Professional Cleaning one home at a time.
For many of you, it started the same way: you called Abracadabra, I came to your home, we talked about what you needed, I gave you a quote—and we shook hands.
I have always taken that handshake seriously.
That handshake built this business. It built relationships with clients who trusted Abracadabra to enter their homes week after week, year after year. I hired employees, trained teams, provided the equipment and supplies, scheduled the work, handled the calls, and spent 30 years building the reputation behind our name.
So yes, I have been deeply disappointed to learn that former employees are now approaching homes they originally entered as employees of Abracadabra and offering to clean them independently for less.
I believe there is an important difference between building your own business and taking business relationships someone else spent decades building.
I'm not posting this to start a social-media fight. I'm posting it because after 30 years, I think it's fair for me to say clearly what Abracadabra stands for.
We believe in earning your business.
We believe in keeping our word.
And when I shake your hand, it still means something to me.
Thirty years later, it always will.
Thanks for hearing me out. I pride myself on honesty and integrity because they matter. They are part of who I am and who I will always be.
