Well, I had to make a sudden change in my plans for the next week. A tropical cyclone developed suddenly yesterday and just dropped over 20 inches of rain in and around Wilmington, North Carolina. We have a Pride Restore NC location in Wilmington. Our crews are doing what they can, however no one coule have been prepared for that amount of rain in just 12 hours.
I am currently in Charlotte, North Carolina waiting for my 1115 pm connection to Wilmington.
We have a long list of homes and businesses including a church that is flooded. It is so sad to see the pictures of the flooding that have caused residents to lose parts of their homes, vehicles, personal possessions and there was no warning.
This system looked like a typical storm that develops off the coast and would bring a few inches of rain, not 20-24 inches of rain in just 12 hours. They said it was raining at one point as much as 4-5 inches per hour.
This is what our business does is help those that have suffered a disaster to their home or business. I have been doing this for 37 years. It is going to take a lot of long hours and hard work and patience and the understanding of our clients that we will have to rip out and remove parts of their homes that were in perfect condition just under 15 hours ago. We will have to remove our clients personal property that they worked hard to accumulate and have long lasting memories of family gatherings with those items. I understand this is what we do and how our employees and Susan and I support ourselves and our families. It's definitely not easy and the work is nasty and will leave you shaking your head of how much devastation can occur to so many people in an wide area that will never be forgotten.
Please lift those families in prayer that have sustained damage and help them deal with the loss of some or in some cases, their entire home, their vehicles and personal property. I also would like prayers to protect everyone and our employees that have been working tirelessly today as well as our employees that offered to drive the 15 hours from our office in St Louis to Wilmington, North Carolina to help us help as many people as possible. Thank you. Please feel free to share.
