Atlanta Billionaire Donates $50 Million To Help HBCU Students Graduate
Arthur M. Blank, co-founder of The Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons, announced a $50 million commitment in October 2025 through the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation to support four Atlanta-based historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs): Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morris Brown College, and Spelman College.
This 10-year initiative focuses on gap scholarships for students close to graduation but facing financial hurdles. By addressing these last-mile barriers, the funding aims to help thousands complete their degrees, increase graduation rates, and open doors to brighter futures.
The donation underscores the impact of targeted philanthropy in strengthening education and opportunity in underserved communities. It serves as an inspiring example of how strategic investments can create lasting positive change for students, families, and generations ahead.
