Temps continue to run below freezing in the days ahead, with a potential for more snow this coming weekend. Here are a few precautionary reminders from weather.gov:
Protect pipes on an outside wall from freezing by:
Letting inside faucets drip overnight
Opening cabinet doors to allow more heat to circulate around pipes
Keeping the heat on
If you have a burst pipe, make sure you and your family know how to shut off the water.
Never thaw a frozen pipe with an open flame.
Heat sources:
Always use a screen around an open flame.
Never burn materials not intended for your heat source.
Do not close the damper on your fireplace while the ashes are still hot.
Use safe alternative heat sources according to the manufacturer's guidelines.
Because we also love our furry friends, please bring pets inside, provide shelter, fresh food, and water, and keep ice-melting products away from their paws.
Even when we have done our best to prepare, things still sometimes happen. Should you experience damage to your home or property, remember Steamatic of VA Peninsula is a 24/7 emergency response team ready and waiting to assist you in mitigating damage and restoring your house into your home again!
