Good morning Kansas! Something that a lot of us come across is this spider. It’s call a Nursery web spiders. They are known as active hunters, not web-builders, that use silk to create a protective "nursery" tent for their egg sacs, giving them their name. Found in grasslands and gardens, they are beneficial predators that hunt insects and are generally harmless to humans, though they can run on water. They are often confused with wolf spiders but can be distinguished by their eye pattern and maternal care, where the female guards the egg sac in her jaws until it's ready to hatch.
