Good morning! We want to remind everyone that we have now started our Pick Up/ Drop Off service. During these times we are extending our coverage to the following communities:
Whiting, East Chicago, Hammond, and Gary.
We also extend into the following Illinois neighborhoods and towns.
East Side
Vets Park
Hegewisch
Calumet City
Burnham

We charge a flat rate of $2.15 a lb.

For all the residents that experienced another power outage early today, if you want, you can contact us and we'll pick up your laundry, clean and fold it, and drop it off to you when finished. Let that be one less thing you need to worry about during this ordeal.

This is the boss and brains behind Whihala Wash Laundromat Mrs. Kristin Gomez.

This is her at the tail end of a CRAZY HECTIC last 5 days. We were very fortunate to keep power and throughout the last 5 days we met so many new people who lost power from as far as New Chicago and Portage. We made it a point to introduce ourselves to every single new face and try to accommodate them throughout this stressful time.

Right before this picture was taken I had my feet up taking a nap but heard my wife introducing herself to the new customer so I took a pic.

Update!!! All that and she washed 155.5 lbs of laundry today!
A few out of state linemen that came to assist Nipsco called her and asked if she could do his crews laundry while they're out here.

Good afternoon!!

We received word that the parking lot next to our laundromat will be closed at 6am tomorrow morning.
We WILL be open Wednesday and Thursday. You can either park in front of the laundromat or park in the lot just west of our lot behind Dos Sabores.

If you park there please call our number and we will meet you there to carry your clothing to the laundromat for you. If you want to drop it off please call us and you can drop it off in the back where we will open up our back door and accept it.

We are happy to help in any way we can!

We apologize for the inconvenience and short notice but I believe the parking lot next to us will be closed tomorrow unknown time as of right now.

We were never aware of a specific date that Whiting would be closing off the parking lot for Pierogi Fest. We figured since no one contacted us that we would at least have a parking lot for our customers until Thursday morning.
I saw Whiting employees setting up barricades this morning to close off the parking lot. I respectfully stated that the parking lot is a necessity for our laundromat and that closing it now would further hurt our business seeing that we wouldn't be able to have customers from Tuesday through Sunday.

Thankfully the employee was understanding and allowed me to move the barricades off the lot.

So as of right now we have no idea when they are going to close the lot tomorrow. Having said this if you planned on doing your laundry tomorrow or Thursday and you use the parking lot, I would highly recommend you try to do your laundry today or early tomorrow morning.

We will be closed during pierogi fest July 24th-26th. We will resume normal hours of operation that Monday July 27th.
