The story of our family business is one of opportunity and all-American grit. In the early 1990s, Hank & Karla Gilbert bought the Rainbow International franchise of Smith County. After two years of learning the ropes of carpet cleaning and the desire to provide a better value for their customers, they sold the franchise and started their own company (Professional Keepers). The last 30 years have s

een the company take advantage of major opportunities with picking up key commercial carpet cleaning accounts like UT Health East Texas, the northeast hospital, and Christus TMF, adding ceramic tile cleaning, rug cleaning, and water damage restoration. In 2017, our business (like many other partners of former East Texas Medical Center) was put to the test when they suspended scheduled carpet cleaning for nearly two full years. However, our company not only survived, but also began to grow substantially while Peyton and Cody earned their doctorates of pharmacy degrees. The last four years (beginning with the winter storm of 2021) have been our company’s best years working with all three hospitals and growing our rug cleaning business. As we take a look ahead, we are very excited about the future. Since Peyton and Cody purchased the business from Hank, they have renamed the company to reflect the pride they have in their parents and their name. The business is now "Gilbert's Carpet and Rug Cleaning." Additionally, Peyton and Cody have made a six-figure investment in their rug cleaning facility to continue to be the most professional and thorough rug cleaning company in the Tyler, Texas area.

This generational green and beige wool rug had heavy urine contamination, deep embedded soil, and faint odor issues — but instead of replacing it, we gave it a full professional deep clean and restoration inside our rug washing facility.

Urine in wool rugs is one of the toughest cleaning challenges because the contamination doesn’t stay on the surface. It soaks deep into the fibers and rug foundation, causing lingering odor, discoloration, and long-term damage if not properly removed.

In this video, we walk through the professional rug washing process as we:

✔️ Identify and treat urine contamination
✔️ Safely clean delicate wool fibers
✔️ Flush out deep embedded urine and odor
✔️ Remove years of trapped soil and buildup
✔️ Restore softness, color, and freshness to the rug

Wool rugs require specialized cleaning methods. Improper cleaning can lead to color bleed, browning, shrinkage, or lingering smells, which is why true professional rug washing is so important.

Watch the transformation as this older wool rug goes from heavily contaminated to dramatically restored.

Your Wool Rug Is Not a Carpet — Stop Cleaning It Like One

Your wool rug is durable, naturally stain-resistant, and can last generations when cared for properly. But use the wrong cleaner, the wrong temperature, or the wrong technique, and you can permanently damage fibers that took artisans hours to weave. In this video, we walk through the complete professional deep clean of a wool area rug at our East Texas rug wash shop — and explain exactly why wool requires a completely different approach than any other rug material.

WHAT YOU'LL SEE IN THIS VIDEO:
Pre-cleaning fiber and dye inspection specific to wool
pH-matched, wool-safe cleaning solution application
Full controlled wash and rinse — no over-saturation
Centrifuge final rinse that no carpet cleaning company can replicate in the home

You’ll see just how much hidden dirt comes out during a true deep clean — and why professional rug washing makes such a big difference.

These two rugs were heavily contaminated with pet urine, odor, and deep-set soil—and surface cleaning wouldn’t even come close to fixing the problem.

In this video, we take you inside our professional rug washing facility to show how we fully restore tufted rugs using the proper process from start to finish.

Unlike carpet cleaning done in your home, true rug washing is designed to flush out contamination from deep within the rug fibers and backing—not just clean the surface.

Watch as we:
✔️ Remove pounds of dry soil with automated dusting
✔️ Fully submerge and wash the rugs to break down urine contamination
✔️ Thoroughly scrub to release trapped debris
✔️ Deep rinse until the water runs clear
✔️ Use a high-speed centrifuge to safely remove excess moisture
✔️ Dry the rugs in a controlled environment to prevent odor and damage

This is the difference between temporary results… and a true deep clean that actually lasts.

If you’ve ever struggled with:

Pet urine smells that keep coming back
Rugs that still look dull after cleaning
Lingering allergens or contaminants

This video will show you why.
