OK this Is ALL that's happened with Thomas.
This all started when they changed his insulin from Levemir to Lantus. First shot of Lantus he had bad headaches for several says. Then his demeaner changed, he had a very weird raging fight with me over nothing (I realized something was wrong then). Then the night of the seizure he didn't check his sugar before he took 50 units of Lantus, and hour and a half later, he was confused and had the seizure. It all started when he took the Lantus. Hospital, VIDEO neurologist said stroke and insulin overdose and put him on a seriously bad seizure med. They checked his neck arteries and veins, they were good, heart ultrasound, good. They sent him home. The next night at home, I made him check his blood sugar before taking his Lantus, it was 88!!! He's NEVER that low. If he had taken the Lantus he would have had another seizure or come or died!!! Next day he was very confused, didn't know who we were. I called ambulance. Second VIDEO neurologist said there was an infection in his brain and yes swelling from low sodium. They poured so many different antibiotics and sodium into him. Let him go day before the hurricane. I realized after he told me how the seizure meds made him feel to take him off of them. Went through hurricane. Day after hurricane he became non responsive and non vertebral then had a small seizure. Back to hospital. They gave him 25 bags of a specific antibiotic. They had done tests for the infection and guessed it was herpes 1 from a previous cold sore. I specifically told then NO LANTUS!!! Well a nurse decided to give him 30 units of Lantus before bed. The next day he took a shower, had a small headache. Chyenne called him and he was talking gibberish, she called me and I called him, gibberish. I then called his nurse and they checked on him and he couldn't name objects they showed him. I went up and spent the night with him. They had done cultures and tests to determine which infection he had. I repeatedly asked for the results and was not given an answer. The test all came back Sep. 30th!! They kept him for 3 more days pushing the antibiotics and then the infectious disease lady came in and told us that NO INFECTION WAS FOUND!!!! She agreed with me that it was all from the Lantus. So they released him. I've got him and I'm watching him like a Hawk! Checking his sugar frequently. I have him on Novolog R like they had him on in the hospital. He's doing good but still repeating questions that have been answered, doesn't remember names of cats or some people. Hopefully taking him to Palms Monday because I need new needles, lancets, and test strips for the new glucose meter they prescribed him. Plus I need to get a referral to a neurologist ASAP!!!
If anyone can help us with gas money to back and forth to Palms in Live Oak from White Springs, get the needles, test strips, and lancets, and the $20 for the Palm's medical visit, please help if you can. This has been absolutely unreal!!! I don't need much, I just have to get the stuff he needs and to the doctor Monday. Cashapp $Seneedra or PayPal [email protected]. I will pay back anyone who helps because I know most of y'all are in bad situations from the storms. I love you all. Everyone
