We would like to thank all our residents for their continued support and gratitude for all that we do.

The Town of Hartford is temporarily suspending acceptance of ALL types of tires. Unfortunately our vendor that we partner with to manage that waste stream continues to face significant labor shortages impacting their ability to provide us with timely service. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our facility users. We are optimistic that we can resume this service quickly. If you have any questions, please call (802) 295 - 3622

NOTICE OF WATER SERVICE DISRUPTION
11:55 am: Water service is now restored. There will NOT be a boil water advisory for any affected residences. There may be some discoloration in the water, so please run water for 10-15 minutes prior to using for consumption. If any discoloration does not clear after 15 minutes, please contact the DPW at 802-295-3622.
UPDATE AS OF 8:26 am:
At this time, Fairview Terrace, Lantern Lane, Round House Road, and Fairview Terrace will be without water. The duration of this disruption is still unknown. Residents of Lily Pond, Birchwood Drive, and Bullard Street will notice water has been restored. Due to the main being back flowed to allow for water service, residents will notice the water may appear rusty.

The Water Department is currently responding to a major water main break on Fairview Terrace. At this time, residents in the areas of Fairview Terrace, Birchwood Drive, Lily Pond Road, Marshall Ave, Third Ave, and other surrounding streets have impacts on water service for an undetermined amount of time. We will provide updates as they become available.

As you have likely noticed, winter is upon us! To better facilitate snow removal and routine maintenance, you will soon see signs going up explaining changes to our parking ordinances with regards to municipal parking lots. These changes to the parking ordinances will be in effect as soon as the signage is placed.

Residents or visitors to our vibrant Downtown utilizing the South Main Street Parking lot will need to take note of the following (Article III, Section 220-13):

No vehicle shall remain parked in the same parking space for a period of more than seven (7) days.
No unregistered or otherwise abandoned vehicles shall be allowed to be parked in any municipal parking areas.
No camping or overnight sleeping is permitted.

We would also like to remind everyone of the Town’s Winter Parking Ban. There is NO On-Street Parking allowed during the hours of 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during the months of December, January, February, March, and April per Town of Hartford Ordinance Chapter 220 Article II. Vehicles in violation may be towed a the Owner's expense. Having all of our streets clear of parked vehicles allows us to do a better job of clearing our streets of snow and ice.

Occasionally, if conditions allow, the Town will close the South Main Lot to ALL users to address accumulations of snow and ice. Information about those closures is attached to this communication.

Any vehicle that is found to be in violation of ANY of these restrictions will be towed at the owner’s expense. We will make reasonable efforts to contact owners of vehicles that are found to be in violation, but ask anyone who frequently parks in municipal parking lots to ensure the contact information associated with you registration is up to date. Please call the Department of Public Works at (802) 295-3622 with any questions.

As we head into winter, the Town of Hartford's Public Works Department would like to remind our community members of a few important ordinances and asks that help us keep the roads and sidewalks clear.

Please be mindful of our Winter Parking Ban. There is no On Street Parking allowed during the hours of 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during the months of December, January, February, March, and April per Town of Hartford Ordinance Chapter 220 Article II. Vehicles in violation may be towed a the Owner's expense. Having all of our streets clear of parked vehicles allows us to do a better job of clearing our streets of snow and ice.

We also ask that our residents and snow removal contractors be aware of 23 V.S.A. Section 1126a, snow removed from driveways may not be pushed across the public highways. Unfortunately, this can create a safety hazard and increases the burden of clean up on our department.

We are also asking our residents who utilize our Curbside Recycling program or have their waste removed by a private hauler keep their receptacles in your driveway. Having these items in our roads and sidewalks also impedes our storm response.

Important reminders for our residents, visitors, and business owners:

Our region is expecting the first significant winter storm of the season starting tomorrow, December 18th through the morning of Sunday, December 19th. Due to unseasonably warm temperatures we have been experiencing, we anticipate our gravel roads will experience significant damage if plowed too early in the storm. To mitigate any unnecessary damage and repairs, the Highway Department will be plowing our gravel ONLY at the end of the storm.

We recognize this will present challenges for our residents on unpaved areas, so we are urging early preparation steps be taken. Please stay off the roadways as much as possible to allow our team the time to clear the roads. If you must drive, leave early, drive slow, and ensure safe distances between yourself and other vehicles on the road. Only in the event of an emergency, will our Highway Department be diverted to clear the roadway to allow for Emergency Services to respond.

We would like to take this time to remind everyone to remove vehicles, trash and recycling bins, basketball hoops, or any other objects located within the Town right of way. Plowing snow across or into the roadway is a violation of Vermont law, and could result in a $76 fine.

(a) No person, other than an employee in the performance of his or her official duties or other person authorized by the Agency of Transportation (in the case of State highways) or selectboard (in the case of town highways), shall plow or otherwise deposit snow onto the traveled way, shoulder, or si...
