Important reminders for our residents, visitors, and business owners:
Our region is expecting the first significant winter storm of the season starting tomorrow, December 18th through the morning of Sunday, December 19th. Due to unseasonably warm temperatures we have been experiencing, we anticipate our gravel roads will experience significant damage if plowed too early in the storm. To mitigate any unnecessary damage and repairs, the Highway Department will be plowing our gravel ONLY at the end of the storm.
We recognize this will present challenges for our residents on unpaved areas, so we are urging early preparation steps be taken. Please stay off the roadways as much as possible to allow our team the time to clear the roads. If you must drive, leave early, drive slow, and ensure safe distances between yourself and other vehicles on the road. Only in the event of an emergency, will our Highway Department be diverted to clear the roadway to allow for Emergency Services to respond.
We would like to take this time to remind everyone to remove vehicles, trash and recycling bins, basketball hoops, or any other objects located within the Town right of way. Plowing snow across or into the roadway is a violation of Vermont law, and could result in a $76 fine.
