Questing isn't hunting. It's an ambush.

A tick climbs onto grass or brush, anchors its back legs, and stretches its front legs out, waiting. It can't jump. It can't fly. It doesn't chase. It just waits, sometimes for hours, sensing body heat, carbon dioxide, and movement from whatever walks by. Entomologists call this behavior questing.

This is exactly what's happening in the photo: front legs extended, back legs gripping the leaf, ready to latch onto the next thing that brushes past.

You don't have to find a tick for it to find you. A walk through tall grass or a wooded edge is all it takes. Check yourself, your kids, and your pets after time outdoors.

A house sitting empty doesn't mean it's bed bug free. These pests don't need a host around to survive. They can go over a year without feeding, just waiting for someone to walk back through the door. That's why vacant units, rentals between tenants, and seasonal homes still need regular inspections. If your home's been sitting empty, or if you're managing a property that's been unoccupied, get it checked before moving back in.

Our tech Tom spotted this trail of odorous house ants marching along the tile during a routine visit. These guys love moisture, which is exactly why bathrooms and kitchens are their favorite hangout spots.

They're called "odorous" for a reason. Crush one and you'll notice a smell like rotten coconut. Not pleasant, but it's one of the easiest ways to confirm what you're dealing with.

A few scouts today can mean a much bigger colony nearby. And these ants don't play fair. Disturb the nest and they'll simply split up and rebuild elsewhere. That's why we don't just treat the ants you see. We track down the colony and stop the problem at its source.

Those ants on your outside wall aren't just passing through, they're scouting a way in. 🐜

Look closely and you'll see them following the cracks and seams. Those are their highways. And any plants touching the wall? That's a bridge that lets them climb straight in around windows and siding.

Two easy fixes: trim back anything touching the walls and foundation so they lose the bridge, and seal the cracks where you see the trail disappear. Knock out the path and you knock out a lot of the problem before it reaches your kitchen.

Another successful year. 🔥

For the third year running, Twin Boro was proud to be part of the NJ Special Olympics Torch Run, handing out drinks and snacks to the runners as they passed through. The runners are police officers who carry the torch all the way down to Trenton for the NJ Summer Games, passing it department to department the entire way, all to raise money for Special Olympics.

This one is personal for us. Our own Tom grew up around Special Olympics. His father got involved when Tom was very young and always kept the family part of it. That passion is still going strong, and being able to take part year after year means the world to him and to all of us at Twin Boro.

Huge thanks to everyone who helped make it happen. ❤️
